You can throw out the slavers by using the "Stop Foreign Slave Trade" decision 
It will also remove the "Major Slave Market" Modifier that you got on your capital though.
I will add a better tooltip for the first event and we might adjust the modifiers a bit but the idea has never been that this is a choice you'll want to stick with forever. It's a harsh thing for when you desperately need more institution spread (between the two modifiers it's a pretty hefty increase in your capital especially).
Revamping your countries economy to be built on Slave Trade is not a long term policy without bad effects, the events are based on states such as the Kingdom of Kongo or Ashanti try to reflect this.
