Please take this post with a grain of salt. I love the game and wouldn't complain if I didn't. In fact, the more I love something the more strongly I speak when something goes a way I...greatly dislike. With that out of the way, start rant.

Genuinely not happy that I cannot force a particular person to continue to be my ruler with console commands, ESPECIALLY since they decided to "make leaders matter," as if that wasn't true before the update. Yes, leaders matter a lot more now, and I'm happy about the new features (Genuinely really like how I'm actually caring about leader level ups), but seriously, I don't want to have to play with dicatorial/imperial governments just to keep my first ruler until he retires/dies (would be perfectly happy if he was retiring since I haven't seen that before, but he's still got a good 40 years in him due to the Shroud). What happened, you might ask? An election came up and my first ruler wasn't on the list. Yes, more factions have been added due to anti-ethics attraction, but the original factions are still there and still, collectively, hold the majority of the population (a little over 60%). Yes, my first ruler is still alive. No, I don't play with mods. And NO, I DEFINITELY do not want to have to do anything in game files. The game already has cheats via console commands and this isn't a game breaking issue.

Is there a non-game file/dramatic year reduction reload solution to this? Yes, I can potentially console command in the same traits to another leader, but I don't want that other person ruling, I want my first ruler.
