Well here is the big update for you all ! I have finished assigning cultures to Asia. So now we can revise the list to fit Africa as well and then cultures are done. :)

Here is the setup.

http://www.abtirsi.com/arabiauniversalis/Cultures.jpg

Hint: The cultures which have no name in parenthesis use the same name in the files. All the others have their tag listed behind them.

Ah, and another minor thing: you're sure Halych should be Pannonian? As far as i know, it was something between Ruthenian and Lędzian (Lenzaninoi I think they were called by the Byzantines; one of the Polish tribes, anyway). Or, according to my Ukrainian atlas, it should be Croatian or Slavonic (as you probably are aware, the Croatians later migrated from there to present-day Croatia), later replaced by Ruthenians. Also, the Przemysl-Cherven area seems to be a disputed one between Polish and Ukrainian historians, each claiming that those lands had been populated by, respectively, Polish and Ruthenian tribes. Therefore, I'd divide it like this: Cherven and Halych Ruthenian, Przemysl Polish, and the Lendians tribe should have both cultures as national.

The Pannonian does represent the White Croats as well. So that is why I made them Pannonian. :) But couldn't Cherven just be Ruthenian then ?
Ah, good then :). One will have to script a culture change for Halych after the Croat departure, then.
And that's precisely what I meant with Cherven, but couldn't express it clearly :D.

Good. :) Now tomorrow I will continue adding the last nations. Oh and I might have exaggerated a bit when saying we are running low on tags. There are atm still 117 tags left. :D But on the cultures as you can all see there are few left. :)

I have split the Ch'ing-yuan province in south China(I will make the correct font, this is just a preview):

31511821.jpg

Nanling has the ID 1517 just as a note.

Looks good :)
Hmm for the Five Dynasty period it's true we do need to split that province don't we.

The names are too modern though. The northern province should remain Ch'ing-yuan but the southern province should be Kuang-hsi, the regional designation for the area. The southern area isn't really a province at this time and only has a smattering of towns, none of which have administrative authority. However it doesn't make much sense since Kuang is a seperate province, so Kuang-hsi is a bit counterintuitive.

Under the Ming, 500 years after the game ends, Lien-chou (At the game era time known only as Lien) WAS made into a regional capital, so we could call the southern province Lien.

Exactly. I did read about the province and cities, but I found no good names for the provinces for this period. Nanling is a mountain range and Guangnanxi is the name of the area later on.

About cities I have Yulin for Lien and Longcheng for Nanling which btw I think is a better name because near Shanghai there is another Ch'ing-yuan province. And from the start both provinces will be under Tang.

EDIT: Just finished a sketch of the known provinces for each country so now I just have to make these lists and assign to the corresponding nations and voila all nations will be in the game.

it looks better and better, great job, Alex!

Be sure to check out the finalized culture map. I have also finished the religions. So now I can continue the nation setup.

http://www.abtirsi.com/arabiauniversalis/Cultures.jpg

I'm just wondering.. why did you finally decided to remove the Daylamese culture? I think that NW Iran should have somehow different culture (at least in the beggining to reflect the tougher resistance to the caliphate's exapansion.

One more not is that I don't think there should be Czech and Moravian cultures. There definitely shold not be 3 culture sin present day Czechia and Slovakia.

I can imagine 2/3 possible layouts:
1) leave Bohemian culture as it is and merge Moravian and Pannonian (there is a theory, that Bohemian Slavs came from the northeast - through Poland, while the Moravians belonged to the Pannonian branch. This should IMO be called Pannonian

2) Merge Bohemian and Moravian into Moravian culture + move Marchfeld, Austria and Rakaus under Moravian culture

3) merge them all into Moravian culture

Well the Umayyads will only have Arabic as their national culture so it does not matter. The reason for this is that I did mention it: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showpost.php?p=9587045&postcount=901 and there was no response and I did not know how to split Persian so if you have any better ideas than I am all ears. ;)
