I think that at least the south should have some Arab provinces for post-750 Umayyad Caliphate. The Umayyeds survived there also due to power of their Syrian forces in Andalus.

So at least COrdoba, Sevilla and Granada (and some surroundings maybe?) should be Arab rather than Berber.

But the proposal was made also to open a discussion on this topic.

btw, here is my proposal for cultures. I did most of it now, but take care of the rest today or soon :)

I like it!

Except that there should be no Arab/Berber culture in Spain around 711. All of Hispania should simply be covered by an "Ibero-Roman" or simply "Iberian" culture. Also shouldn't there some more provinces with Coptic culture in Egypt, since in 711 Egypt, like Syria, still had a Christian majority if I recall correctly.

Let's talk about Germania and the Slavic tribes a bit ...

I'm in favour of splitting the German and the Slavic culture into several regional cultures.

Those would be for Germania:

Frankish
Saxon
Alemannian
Bavarian
Thuringian
Scandinavian
Anglo-Saxon

cool-toxic, I am confused now. Did you upload that bugless version anywhere?

Thanks again. :)

I'd support that. This is basically the setup I am using for my own scenario starting in 888. Of course Frankish should also cover Northern France.

Anglo-Saxon could be split in Anglian, Saxon and Jutish. :) Then Denmark should have Jutish as second state culture.
We need Frisian and about Alamannian should we call it that or Swabian ?

I'll upload 1.00 now so it's up real soon. :)

EDIT: Arabia Universalis 1.0

Btw, this is not actually the best place to discuss things like this not having anythings to do with the map in general. So maybe we should contact the moderators and ask for a subforum ? Will do the modding a lot easier because now we have to browse through these two threads to find a thread posted long time ago.

Not sure they will grant that for an "older title" ;), but we sure could use a clearer setup for the mod/map.
By the way, is the ID map here up to date with the 1.00 map?

Yes for Frisian, Anglian Saxon and Jutish, and I prefer Alamannian before Swabian - Swabian is bit later name for the same culture.

Concerning the Slavs, what about this:
Sorbian
Polish
Moravian
Karinthian
Croatian
Serbian
not sure about Bulgarian - maybe it should be nomadic Bulgar and some other Slavic culture in Bulgaria)

not sure about the eastern Slavs

good idea :)
or discuss this in What about Arabia Universalis? But some thread started by you, CT, would be the best, so all important info would be in the post 1 :)

Just Bulgar and the Danube Bulgaria should also have the local slavs north of Danube as culture. :)

but there were Slavs south of Danube aswell who assimilated the Bulgars AFAIK.

Ah, by the way. Downloaded the mod. It looks bloody awesome in game. It's by far _the_ best map mod, in my opinion. Period. :)

EDIT
Ah, and when I said that I can't download 'it', I meant the ID map. AU downloaded alright :).

That'd be great indeed. This first post would contain the latest version of the mod/map. Right now for instance, I don't know wether this one is any better than that one or if you just changed host. Of course, it should also include links to the two older original threads.
