Doesn't seem to be in the documentation. What is it and what does it do?

i read somewhere that the Old Guard trait does nothing, except to cause the holder of the trait to take twice as long to get experience. LOL.

I dont remember if it's exactly twice has long but you are right. It doesnt affect combat at all. Your leader takes longer to gain experience which is not a good thing. It simulates leaders that didnt use new warfare doctrines and such.

"Old Guard" is a bad trait to symbolize the people still caught up in WWI lines.
They are usually old Generals who was heavyly involved in WWI (or atleast active during).

What does it do?
It takes longer to gain xp.

The one and (in 1.06) only bad trait.

Old Guard

according to Fiendix (see this LINK ), in HoI 1.06c it takes three times as long for an Old Guard leader to gain experience.

that is even worse than double time.

Having Old Guard get a bonus for Cav would be a good idea if the same trait sysem is used in HOI2.

You can always promote old guard to FM if they are MjGen skill 3, LtGen skill 2, or General skill 1. Then have them command one division in some remote area so that you can avoid the -15 no HQ penalty when there is no FM in or adjacent to the province.

If they also have some decent skill and another good trait like defense or trickster, they can have some other uses if no one else is available or you don't want to bother to track now a different defensive Lt Gen.
