Old Gods Broken?

When I tried starting up CK2 today, it kept crashing on startup. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game through steam, but now it acts like I dont have TOG installed at all. No 866 start date and no playing as pagans. Does anyone know what is going on?

Try verifying integrity of game cache?

if the above suggestion doesn't work.

try removing your paradox interactive CKII folder from your "My Documents" folder as well as uninstalling the game through steam.

(note any saves or mods you want to keep you should back up.)

then try again.

Tried both, didnt work. I wiped all my saves just in case too, but I noticed the ones pre 1066 werent playable. Wtf is going on? I dont know a way to install TOG separately.

Dumb suggestion, but do check that Old Gods is enabled in the launcher. Also go to the DLC list intergrated to the Steam client and see if you own it. Then click on it in the store. Steam should notice you have it somehow, which should make you able to launch it.

Yes both the steam dlc list and the enabled dlc list on the launcher say I have it. I tried booting the game with it disabled, there was no difference. When I turned it back on, didnt do anything. It seems like the DLC was deauthorized for whatever reason.

when you deleted the steam files, did you also make sure the CKII folder in the Steamapps/common files/ was completely gone?

that's where the dlc files are held, if they lingered, and you redownload CKII that might explain the lack of change.

I just deleted the entire folder with shift delete.

Ugh, on the character/province choice screen pre-game it says TOG isnt enabled, even though its shown as on in the CK2 launcher. I really need help with this. I dont want to waste my 15 bucks.

Did you also delete the CK2 folders under MyDocuments? If not Try a full clean reinstall: move any valued save games elsewhere and uninstall the game from within Steam. Then manually delete ALL the CK2 directories from under BOTH the Steam and MyDocuments folders. Now reinstall the game from Steam, and run the Verify just to make sure it all came down properly.

Yeah I did that, the verify says its all working. The TOG icon doesnt appear on the bottom left corner where all the working DLCs are listed ingame, even though its part of CK2's downloaded DLCs and the launcher says its working.

Check your Steam CK2 beta tab - are you opted into the 1.09x beta? If so opt out and run a verify again.

Ahh yes that fixed it. What exactly is this beta that I was opted into? It says "1.9.x: all dlcs that..." or something and the rest is too long for the dropdown tab.

It's an old patch level, required by some mods. As it was from before TOG was released, TOG doesn't work with it.
