.Now, I assume you were asking about our "extra brain" ? In our intestines we got a quite complex set of [nerves, neurons] which has been considered, at least by some, an extra brain. Because of this "extra brain" digestion works well in patients with highly damaged brains. Hope I remembered everything right, google it and you will find something.
