Darkest Hour Introduction

By fans, for the fans,

Darkest Hour is the new real-time grand strategy game published by Paradox Interactive.
Here are a few more informations about it.

Fast facts :

- Short and grand campaigns will allow to play during the darkest hours of XXth century, from the Great War
to the premises of Cold War
.
- An entire world map drawn to allow both strategic and tactic opportunities.
- A dynamic diplomatic system where the player has a real impact on the course of events.
- An innovative artificial intelligence that is able to react to hundreds of different situations.
- Huge room for user modifications through text files...and a LOT more...

The game should be available by the end of 2010.

Our team is composed of four main developers : Martin, Björn, Christian and me (Rayan).
Each of us has an area of expertise, be it programing, map development, database research or AI coding.
A lot of contributors (more than 30, including Niklas, Eric, Damien, Steve, Robert and many others) are also helping us
with concepts, feedbacks, historical advices and play-testing.
Most of them are very well known here and can claim a modding background on Paradox games.

Thus, you can easily understand how this project is mostly done by fans and that our philosophy is that players should
have a large implication in games development and enhancement.
We will therefore be looking forward to welcoming even more members of the community into our team.

Follow Darkest Hour and grab exclusive informations from our Facebook page, the Strategium page and our
Twitter account.
Screenshots will be revealed there throughout the day. ;)

Just great! :D

This is... unexpected.

Can you tell us something about international diplomacy? Will there be conferencies?

Well, from the scale of this project, I would recommend:
-Adding a population\manpower cap, so that the winners of WW1 dont just keep increasing the army size infinitely;
-Tech Tree will have to be dramatically increased (atleast tripled in size);
-You will need a LOT of event modders, otherwise it will take forever to make all the alternate possibilities (Example: Germany wins WW1, world becomes Kaiserreich styled, and so on...); In that case I would recommend asking for the event chains from all the alternate history mods and adapting them to DH (Kaiserreich, 1914, 1964 and so on...).

Great project! :)

Events won't be enough to cover every situation perfectly. Game mechanics changes are necessary IMO.

+2 but I think the team has done their homework

Also I hope for a two types of game : One with events switched on and one without them at all. That should be fun :)
