So during my fanatic materialist + militarist "lets build robots to do all the work" game, I get the all the Cybrex artifacts within 30 years and find their homeworld right next to my own. Amazing to say the least. Suffice to say I get Living Metal within less than a decade (mostly due to engineering events and such). Since this is the early game I am the only one with this wondrous metal. So a nearby friendly AI calls me up and tells me this: "Gimme access to one of the rarest substances in the galaxy and we will give you this useless Teldar Crystals, its a great deal lemme tell you dat!".
My only reaction was this:
However it also got me thinking, do the AI ever offer minerals/energy credits for strategic resources? I might have been willing to give them some (for a while) in return for massive amounts of minerals. Also does anyone know how the AI calculates how valuable certain stragetic resources are? Since clearly Teldar Crystals aren't even remotely as useful as Living Metal. Even more useless for someone who doesn't use/have kinetic weapons.
