Oh great hes doing the patriot thing again: TFH Canada AAR

Well, I'm back. After trying a netherlands AAR (With only one update) and a Sweden AAR (With only two) I plan to play as Canada and make at least 3 updates! Canada is very very fun to play as you can build up your army however you want. I plan to not do the one super gamey thing everyone does with Canada, which is Invade sicily and cheapshot the millions that try to cross the straits of messina, and do some genuinely different stuff. I plan to post an update after school today so stay tuned.

Chapter 1: A new world

January 1st 1936:
Mr King woke up. "Uhh, prime minister, sir, he is waiting for you" Prime minister mackenzie king went downstairs to see a huge keyboard fall on him. I'm gonna write this my way.


Well, Canada is probably my favourite option to play as in Hoi3. They are small, flexible and a great starter country because of that. Sadly, there is some glitch that annoyes me in this screenshot which is the tech messages. Mind those though, they will stay out of place for a while. Anyway I plan to build my divisions as 1 inf brigade and 1 AT. This makes them easy to stack and spread and easy on manpower, and also easy to defend against those damn Tigers once they try to rip up my maple leaf sculpture.


Therfore (Glitch that makes me want to pull my hair off of my head aside) I am working on Infantry and AT Techs. I also wish to build a mountain corps to spearhead attacks.

Canada comes with a 3 brigade infantry division and I plan to split the brigades and add AT's to convert them. I'm also making more transports because theyre useful, and some convoys.

After that I traded for some crude oil with the gorilla next door and gave some supplies to the gorilla across the pond. The soviets and americans are awesome because pre war they always trade with you, during the war you can debt and lend lease and after the war you don't care. America is of particular significance because they are the only allies member that does something usually in TFH. There are possibilites otherwise but whatever. I also prepared for war, because that might be a thing between periods of a Maple Leafs game.

We mobilize quickly economically, which is always a benefit of Canada. After that we show you our tech by May. These are the last pics of the update. It's a short one.

So, How do you guys like it so far? We will have about 3 more updates before things get interesting, but I assure you they do. Thanks to all!

By the way, don't you think that INF-INF-AT divisions might perform better than simple INF-AT ones? I've always thought that binary divisions seriously lack any offensive capabilities at all...

I love Canadian AARs! One of the first AARs I ever read back in 2007 before I joined was Spitfire_Pilot's "We have to Do it for Ourselves" Canadian Doomsday AAR for HoI2. Will so be following out of nostalgia and the many hours I logged as Canada playing the HoI games! Best of luck!

By the way, don't you think that INF-INF-AT divisions might perform better than simple INF-AT ones? I've always thought that binary divisions seriously lack any offensive capabilities at all...

Honestly I agree, thats why I will be building mountain divisions and stacking the divisions up. Canada has such limited manpower that any bigger divs will seriously limit combat potential. Thanks for the suggestion and the follow!

Chapter 2: Dear Diary

Well, I'm gonna try a different style of writing for this one. If you like it more than the normal format just say it and I will continue this. And good luck to all AAR's in the Awards!
Other than that I just want to thank you guys for replying. I'm just an amateur AAR writer and feedback is a huge compliment.



My name is John Barriers. I have just been drafted into the Canadian army, which is wierd since I thought Canada had promised no conscription, but I didn't mind, I was dirt poor and the army fed me and gave me shelter. I was placed in an Anti Tank brigade only to see my horrifying gun. This thing is disgusting, brown and ancient, but I have heard that the government will replace them. Canada is almost finished with their new Army Corps, which is cool I guess. Here is the said format of our divisions

Pretty cool right? I've heard that the Facists in europe will have to face us, which shouldn't be a problem since the Great war saw us act as conquerors. The Canadians, I mean, not me. Anyway I cannot wait to see some action! Action has been going on in the rather boring Diplomatic Department of Canada though.

We did new training recently and while we walked by the Infantry Brigade we saw them with a shiny new Machine Gun! They were so excited it looks like they won a prize! Our training was on Aiming and Concentration, which was hard with our rust bucket guns.

We doubled our army strength today, but we learned that the new brigades had the wrong epquipment! Artillery was in place instead of anti tanks guns, so these men were to get retrained.

Today was amazing. We got new guns! It has been almost a year since I was in the Army, and this was the best day. The new guns were Green, and they aimed way better. If these guns faced the jerries they would run to the hills! It's mid 1937 now,and our Production and technology research became applicable to show to soldiers. So here is the progress of canada!

Now that you have troops on the American-Canadian Border, it is no longer the longest undefended border in the world!

Although I suspect by the direction of the AAR, that the two favorite children of Mother England will be coming to her rescue in a couple of years! I'm really looking forward to how you play during the war, only because I have fond memories in HoI2 of leading the Africa and Italian campaigns with my Canadian soldiers!

Yeah, I'm also wondering...

I think you might be better off by making 2xINF/ART/AT divsions. You'll use up half the leaders, your divisions will be stronger and you'll get more CA bonus for the same buck

Nah. But I'm proud of myself for making the personal milestone xD

I think that I willcombine divisions and merge my Corps, so 2 inf 2 AT. Sadly this brings manpower into perspective, but 3 corps with 2 inf brigades in each (3 for mountain) Should be fine. Thanks for the suggestion almighty Ikarases.

At least you rectified the situation. I know some people who may otherwise start anew because of such a happening. I'm sure it'll be just fine though in the long run!
