I'm sure we're all bored to death of talking about sectors but I just wanted to check if I'm using them right. I started a new, 1 planet sector while paused with "redevelopment" set to off, "respect tile resources" set to off and "finance" (so, energy) as the focus. The sector immediately destroyed a bunch of buildings I'd built (mainly power plants and also an art monument) and then built nothing.

I'm not here to whinge about sectors being broken or anything I just wanted to check if this was a bug or if I did something wrong? Is there a "best practice" for sector usage? It seems like a lot of the management options don't work as expected.

I've never seen a sector tear down a building. For me they only replace buildings. It might be a side effect of turning off redevelopment.
As for replacing monumnets & power plants:
  • Sectors seem to always replace happiness buildings while average happiness is above 50%, which also annoys me to no end.
  • Even financial Sectors will try to get some mineral income. So if you left the sector without any mines, it'll replace some power plants with mines.
