@Kretoxian:
Just comparing what you want and what is there already.
.. To do it exactly as you want, it would mean a lot of extra work, as some categories of models/models pics would then have to be changed as well.

The simplest way to do this:
Basically you are putting in a new ship category of Corvette.
I have an empty model slot at 29, and I can leave everything else as it is, and just slot in the Corvette at model 29.
That would then complete the naval ship types.

:D

Yes.. it would also work, but does the game count nuclear subs as "screen ships" in a battle?

I haven't worked on tech before, so I will have to check it out further, or you can?

Here is what I've done so far:

BUT... I've had to make corvettes to be destroyers as there were no free designations.. they were all taken...So, we have 2 destroyer designations...

Whether this affects is in a bad way I've no idea, will have to try it out and see...

EDIT: Also, I didn't do any work on the tech required for a Corvette... I just copied the destroyer stuff.. I imagine a corvette is a small or larger destroyer??, so will have the same techs??

I've to go out now for a few hours so be back later. Cheers

^^ Nice! Sorry my hands are full with the IC thing, i can't check it.

My experiment continues, this time took me longer because China was a big boy to do, here are the results for the C starting countries:
-Cambodia: 4/4 IC 1TT
-Cameroon: 10/10 IC 1 TT
-Canada: 125/118 IC 5 TT*
-Cape Verde: 3/1 IC 1 TT
-Central African Republic 3/2 IC 1 TT
-Chad: 3/2 IC 1 TT
-Chile: 36/35 IC 2 TT
-China: 296/296 IC 10 TT**
-Colombia: 27/28 IC 2 TT
-Comoros: 3/1 IC 1 TT
-Congo-Brazzaville: 5/5 IC 1 TT
-Congo Kinshasha (or whatever it is written): 12/11 1 TT
-Costa Rica: 6/6 IC 1 TT
-Croatia: 25/26 IC 2 TT
-Cuba: 21/21 IC 2 TT***
-Cyprus (South): 4/4 IC 1 TT
-Czech Republic: 51/54 IC 3 TT

*Canada's economy has risen a lot. We are no longer talking about that semi-british colony, we are talking about a very prosperous economy. I don't think that their IC is too high, in fact i think that it's fair for them to have that amount of IC.
**We are dealing with the world's next first economy, remember? And yet, it's not as high as original MDS where they had around 320IC IIRC.
***Cuba's economy is stronger than you think.

Bahrain is in the media, but geopolitically/economically is less important than Qatar.

Good to see this old baby alive again. May the 7th Generation will now finish one of the longest projects for HOI 2 ;). As we didn't have the units limitations of HOI 2 anymore, I hope you will become a bit more courageous with the unit system.

Canada 118 base IC? Maybe if they have to produce 100 IC worth of consumer goods... Lets not forget that this is a war game and IC is used to make tanks and planes. Does Canada even have a domestic arms industry? Because here they would have an army half the size of China.

OK... TECH TECH TECH.................

I think we will need to re-do totally the navy. Why?
... I've checked on wikipedia and this is the modern navy for the 21st century (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Navy_ships)
... We don't need 2 types of carrier
... 2 types of sub is ok, diesel and nuclear
... no nuclear battlecruisers either...

These are the modern ship types:

Carrier
Amphibious assault
diesel Sub
nuclear sub
missile cruiser
destroyer
frigate
corvette (littoral combat ship.. close to shore)
coastal patrol
mine countermeasures ??

I think if we're going to do a job, then we should aim to do the navy as here, in the long run. Of course, to get the mod into the public arena, we should just post it as it is now, but should aim to improve it later. ??

It seems a little high to me as well. Canada buys nearly all its military hardware from the USA.

That being said, Canada has decent manufacturing that could easily be converted into war footing so that should be taken into account
There are some arms branch plants in Ontario (General Dynamics), plus a decent aerospace industry with Bombardier in Quebec and Bristol out in Winnipeg (although not what it once was). There is also decent shipbuilding in the Maritimes and out in B.C. With American help, which would be the case in a war, Canada could be pumping out tanks and fighter planes quite easily.

Sorry man, the people who decided on the naval units in MDS2 were really knowledgeable about world navies. (It wasn't me, although I did the work of integrating it into the game)

Nuclear Battlecruisers are the Russian Kirov-class, and different purposes and theory lie behind these units that have no western counterpart. Same with Heavy Aviation Cruisers, which are aircraft carriers - by all means, but with fewer planes, which focus on defending from incoming aircrafts, and is instead packed with missiles - including super long range anti-carrier missiles, anti air batteries, and ASW helicopters. So it's a aircraft carrier built to handle a cruiser role. And you need Light carriers as well to simulate the small carriers that european/brazil/india countries field which are 3-4X smaller, and carry only 12-24 aircraft compared the the US nuclear supercarriers that can field an whole wing of 90 aircraft.

SSGN's are another russian beast that the americans are starting to field as well with the conversion of the Ohio-class. The concept is the same here with powerful missiles that can defeat surface combatants from afar.

Corvettes can potentially be added, but they would be very weak and useless compared to larger blue water ships. Maybe if you lump 5 corvettes together, it could be good to include.

coastal patrol and minelayers/sweepers don't have any role in a grand strategy game, and have no arms that can defeat larger ships under normal circumstances.

I suggest rather to make changes to industrial & secret tech sectors, add different futuristic snacks, maybe some economic techs as well?

140 million of people but the vast majority of them are employed in the agriculture. If they should have something it's manpower, not IC.

And besides, weren't you the one complaining about i was adding too much ic? Why you say now that i should add more ic both in Brazil and Bangladesh?

My suggestion is as simple as that with a few tweaks to the game's mechanics you could include another type of ship that would benefit many countries. I'm not saying nothing about adding smaller ships like minelayers and so on.

If you check the GDP of the countries in question, you will see that if Brazil has 84 IC, Belgium should have 18 IC.

Brazil's economy is about the same size as Russia or France.

IC is 85% arms industry, which certain nations dont have. Such as Canada, they rely mostly of foreign arms like the Leopard 2 MBT from Germany. And other arms from places like the US. I think some nations should have events where they buy military equipment and create new divisions. Same with in time of war just sped up, kind of like the purchase outdated equipment event in DH Full expect for a wider range of units, such as infantry, armor, and even naval.
