The realm rejoices as Paradox Interactive announces the launch of Crusader Kings III, the latest entry in the publisher’s grand strategy role-playing game franchise. Advisors may now jockey for positions of influence and adversaries should save their schemes for another day, because on this day Crusader Kings III can be purchased on Steam, the Paradox Store, and other major online retailers.
I'd argue that Norse mythology is, by far, the most well represented in games. Nearly all fantasy games have their roots in Norse mythology. Its not particularly original. So 'fantasy RPG' is lack of originality? Really? For me the game looks very originaly because of his close Norse mythology content which isn't that common in games (just Norse inspired settings like in Skyrim)
I don't think so... Many games use Norse names and try to get a Norse feeling. BUt real Norse mythology in games is very very uncommon. How many could you give me as exemples?I'd argue that Norse mythology is, by far, the most well represented in games. I can't think of any that do. Virtually every fantasy video game just copies Lord Of The Rings. And while LOTR took plenty of inspiration from Norse mythology there hasn't been a video-game adaption of Norse mythology itself.I'd argue that Norse mythology is, by far, the most well represented in games. Taking into account that almost no game represents faithfully any mythology, norse is by far the most present in gaming and fantasy in general, if not well represented... so I do agree, it's more love than most mythologies get.I don't think so... Runemaster was the game which was closest to Norse mythology. Call me another game that was such much about Norse mythology than Runemaster. Skyrim is Norse inspired. Other games? Most games I remember are more inspired by LotR and not Norse.Taking into account that almost no game represents faithfully any mythology, norse is by far the most present in gaming and fantasy in general, if not well represented... so I do agree, it's more love than most mythologies get.
That doesn't mean that a more faithful representation of norse mythology in a game is a good and welcome thing, which it is. Original? Yes, up to a point.
Definitely not trying to alienate anyone. The first post in this thread pretty clear identifies why development was frozen. You also alienate people when a product they purchase does not meet their expectations for whatever reason. So how come you guys keep canceling the games we're super excited for that would've made you buckets of money in favour of rehashing decades-old franchises? I don't wanna get in any trouble here but it kinda has to be said. Business wise these decisions don't make a lot of sense. You're alienating a lot of us.
Cause the game as it was, when we froze development, not as fun as we wanted it to be.So how come you guys keep canceling the games we're super excited for that would've made you buckets of money in favour of rehashing decades-old franchises? As much as I was waiting this game, I appreciate your own judgement. Selfcritic is allways respectable thing.Cause the game as it was, when we froze development, not as fun as we wanted it to be.
Clearly there was not nearly enough mass slaughter of elves. Seriously, it seems to me that your internal elf infestation is likely the root cause of any problems in having fun. How can anyone have fun doing innocent activities such as deforestation so elves have nowhere to live if there's a bunch of elves looking over your shoulders. I'd recommend an exterminator, but I don't know any in Sweden.Cause the game as it was, when we froze development, not as fun as we wanted it to be.
That should have been in the announcent. It really should.Cause the game as it was, when we froze development, not as fun as we wanted it to be.

...this part means just thatDespite our best efforts and a couple of re-scopes, Runemaster in its current form was unable to live up to the standards we set for ourselves here at Paradox.
Runemaster was a different type of game for us, and even though we were not able to fully realize our vision for it
So you want them to open source their game engine, since no further development could really happen without the exe? You do realize that is financial suicide for a game company?if not, how about relasing game as it it now and open it so mods can continue its developing ?
The concept was so cool thoughCause the game as it was, when we froze development, not as fun as we wanted it to be.
