Hi everyone,

I have some news to share with you today regarding Runemaster. After much internal debate we have made the decision to freeze development of the project until further notice and move the development team working on it to other projects within Paradox Development Studio.

This was not an easy decision to make - Runemaster was a very ambitious project for us, and the team working on it brought all of their passion, dedication, and talent to the table. Despite our best efforts and a couple of re-scopes, Runemaster in its current form was unable to live up to the standards we set for ourselves here at Paradox.

Runemaster was a different type of game for us, and even though we were not able to fully realize our vision for it, we will take the lessons we learned to heart as we move forward with new endeavors. We will also look into how we can re-use the best parts of the game in other ways.

Our aim is to let all the talented developers who worked on the project to remain with Paradox Development Studio and bring their expertise to the other great games currently in development.

Is it at all possible to know where each of the Runemaster Devs are going? Are they being split amongst the other already existing Dev teams or are they just moving as a team onto a different project?
Its mostly a split among/reinforcing other existing teams

This saddens me immensely. I had such great hopes for this game. I assume that frozen is being used euphemistically and I should hold no real hope for a thawing?

Is it at all possible to know where each of the Runemaster Devs are going? Are they being split amongst the other already existing Dev teams or are they just moving as a team onto a different project?
We are all working on different projects now, for example CKII, EUIV and HoI4. I hope we'll be able to work together on another project soon, it was great while it lasted.

So how come you guys keep canceling the games we're super excited for that would've made you buckets of money in favour of rehashing decades-old franchises? I don't wanna get in any trouble here but it kinda has to be said. Business wise these decisions don't make a lot of sense. You're alienating a lot of us.
Definitely not trying to alienate anyone. The first post in this thread pretty clear identifies why development was frozen. You also alienate people when a product they purchase does not meet their expectations for whatever reason.

Hopefully some of the Runemaster assets can be used for a "Ragnarok Thanes" DLC for Crusader Kings :p
Unfortunately no :( The assets should work fine in HoI IV and our next couple of games though! So hopefully we'll use them for something :)
