So.... I read about the official converter here: http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/07/31/c...uropa-universalis-iv-save-converter-interview

I looked through the first couple pages of posts and couldn't find anything on it, so I went ahead and made a new thread.....

I have some questions about the converter:

You mentioned in the interview that Viking Nations would get a Jomsvikings idea etc. - What determines who a Viking Nation is? For example, I am currently in a game where I conquored Sicily as a Viking nation (Forgot who lol) and than lost my territory in Sweeden. Over time, Sicily has become mostly Norse Culture and (reformed) Norse religion. My nation is now the Kingdom of Sicily and I control parts of North Africa which are also partly Norse now. How will the converter handle a situation like this?

What happens to cultures that no longer exist in EU4 - Norse for example.

What happens with Heretic religions (like Nestorian for example - this has pretty much covered half the globe in my game)

What happens if Rome is controlled by a non-christian religion?

Are there any bonuses for controlling Holy Sites?

I assume the cultures from CK2 will be added to EU4, I'm pretty sure they'll stick Norse in the Nordic group. All heresies will be converted to parent religions, meaning those Nestorian provinces will be Orthodox.

From what I understood it's that unless you have autonomous vassals, your realm is exported as is. Unless you're the HRE, in which case you need the highest authority to have the HRE exported as a nation.

So in my Norse Sisily game, I've now conquered all of Italy, Hispania, and North Africa and converted them into Norse kingdoms. Sunset Invasion hasn't fired yet, so who knows what the map will look like in the end but..... assuming Christianity doesn't pull a resurrection (see what I did there?) and come back from it's tiny holdings in Skotland (all of England/Ireland) ... what is the converter going to do? Are ANY non-christians entitled to the western tech group?

In another thread, they said that reformed pagan religions will be kept intact and if they did well enough on tech (ie, their capital province had high enough tech), they would be western. If I recall correctly.

Thanks,

Is it true that you need to buy EU4 on Gamersgate if you have CKII on Gamersgate for the converter to work? I assume "extinct" cultures (Anglo-Saxon,Norse) will be added for the sake of the importer, correct?

Unsure. I heard that purchasing EU4 on Gamersgate gives you a steam key regardless, which in turn gives you a CK2 steam key as long as you pre-order it. And yes, they said cultures not in EU4 are added via the importer. They said the importer essentially creates a mod for EU4.

Nope, you get your copy of CK2 from the pre order bonus as a Gamersgate version.
If you had bought CK2 on GG, you should also buy EUIV there, since you will get the Gamersgate version of the converter DLC for your CK2.

And yes, every culture is going to be converted, as well as reformed religions. Non reformed heathens will turn into shamanist or animist.
Also, every country will be converted correctly with their CK2 name and CoA

It's gonna make for some good games. Screw real history - I just spent 30 hours building an empire in Europe- next stop: the world!

On another note, I hope you can import into a mod, or go mod to mod - Imagine the possibilities of having both CK2 and EU4 modded into a cohesive megamod.

Not to mention the possibilities of letting CK2 play on observe and porting over. I am glad that the Sunset Invasion creates some powerful empires in the Americas to provide a challenge for large CK2 Kingdoms/Empires.

Or play a game "halvsies" -- For example, load up a CK2 game and save Zoroastrianism - than play "hands off" from there and pick it up in EU4...... the possibilities are endless......

I bought the converter because my friend and I built the roman empire in CKII, then wanted to host that as an eu4 game. Unfortunately when people try to multiplayer join a converter mod it doesnt work. It say the host has a different version of the game :p

Does anyone know what happens if you export a non-Catholic HRE? Will it still follow the same rules? Or will all the people who should be member states be disallowed from actually becoming HREmperor?

Something is wrong about my converted game. The national ideas would let me press only one and the same idea every itteration, that's annoying and making my empire underdeveloped, which is not fun under repited attacks from south and west.

Now I've started another game on the same mod (Alan culture Tartaria empire), this time the Innovative ideas won't eve take the administrative power: the button appears for „patron of arts“, but it does nothing.

What else should I try? Those advancements seem to be one of the main features.
