I think the officer system is great, but could use some slight enhancements:

This might be an advanced change, but I think it would be interesting if officers were able to evolve, not just by skills and exp, but with traits as well. For example:

* An officer involved in a lot of successful defensive fighting may evolve the "Defensive Doctrine"

* An officer leading marines a lot may have a chance to aquire the "Commando"-trait

And so on... This will get less static, predictable leaders, but leaders that can change and evolve in the game depending on how they are used in the current game. This will be particulary useful for minor nations.

Of course, there should be a limit of say three traits, and if you already have one trait it would be less likely that he get a second one. Maybe it can be based on the skill level as well. I would like to have this implemented for naval and air-officers as well. I think this system would enable officers to lose the "Old Guard"-trait too...

Plea for more general experience and learning

Nice idea :) I agree, this may give results that are not that historical, but that would give some extra fun. Of course, it don't have to be THAT often, but sometimes, your leaders surprise you...

I would like to remember you that suggestion that generic Leaders could get "real ones" as soon as they get xp. I played Czechoslowakia, and in years before the WWII HALF of my generals died, and almost all good, and I didn't got any new ones. It was frustrating, particularly because I changed history at the Treaty of Munich event, but nothing changed the destiny of my leaders.

Aditionally, it sounds great to lower generals experience in general, but letting them get more xp during combat.
