I just wanted a discussion on this.

Let's say I want Sardinia as my vassal, then I have to create an alliance with them (that I might not want), to offer vassalization.

And then after they are my vassal, I have to break the alliance again if I don't want it

Seems like a waste of diplomats to me, and a kind of annoying requirement really.

Not really, a vassalization is more or less a protection service. A diplomatic vassalization simply means that they will pay you to be part of your "realm" as an independent country with limited diplomatic options in exhange for your protection. In other words I would be surprised if alliance wasn't required.

Answering him is meaningless.

Chrionicler, it has it reason why it is. Reason is simple - in reality, there are only two ways of subjugating a country. Forcing it(by war or threat of using force) or, by clever diplomacy. And if you want nation to believe that you will protect it, you first must ally them, to learn their trust, and show them that you are their friend.

And what you say is only because you say : "oh i just want it to be otherwise, just because i want game to be easier for me". No real other reason.

Personally I think it's strange that the game doesn't force you to keep the alliance after they're your vassal.
In fact... the game should work in a way such that if you don't answer a call to arms from a vassal, it automatically breaks free.

Anyhow, I think Chronicler wants this to game the system of military access, which is a trick that no longer works once the patch sets in.

But, here are the facts.

1. This is a game and not reality

2. When a vassal isn't an ally you get pulled into war anyhow, even when there isn't an alliance (so they have protection)

3. I can't pick what allies to call to war

4. How is game easier for me with one less ally? (I just hate the clogging)

Game the system of military access wut? No, do you even read what I write? I just don't want a bunch of minor vassals clogging up my page as my allies and a lot of other stuff. When I have no need of their 1k army in any war. (And then they send it and it gets killed and it just costs my vassal loads)

Well, yes, but I might have many allies I want to call and use that button, but not call my minors, and then I also might not have diplomats to call nations if I want to declare on 5 nations at the same time.

Why exactly would you want a non-allied vassal to begin with?

For my sphere of influence

EDIT: I usually keep 50 small minors for my SOI, places like Gotland, Corfu, Sardinia, Crete, Trebizond, Armania etc (or whatever is available, small and poor)

That doesn't mean I want 50 bad allies.

Well, first off it just make no sense because if you would not need to be allied, you could force any single opm, regardless off it position, to become your vassal, even while it is allied to your greatest foe, just by spamming gifts to it. So it would lead to quite riddicule situations.

Ehh, if a minor is allied to my foe usually doesn't stop me from allying them anyway? So I don't get your sense.

(And it already also require good relations, royal marriage, good diplomatic skill)

Actualy not. If country is allied, to any country it greatly decrease chance of getting alliance with, and every alliance you got decreases it too. So it greatly decrease chances for possible vassalization. But i am done talking to you, as your thread was pointless from the very beggining.

Obviously you never had a pwn SOI, because I have never had below very likely with any minor I offered an alliance.

Chronicler you do know that vassal allies always join you in a war unlike normal allies... It has his advantages too

If you mean that they occupy provinces for me, then yes I know that. I just don't like all the clogging and weak-ass allies getting pwnt, building a new 1k army, getting pwnt again etc. It drains their resources, I would rather they built shit like markets etc and helped me that way.

It's just having 50 minor alliances, what's the point of that really.
