So my fellow catholics had all kind of wars against them and i joined all kind of them, revolts against them, holy wars against them etc.

What made me wonder was that it seemed i could only help out once and then the option wasn't in the dipomacy options anymore. Not matter if the other realms character died or not nor when two months had passed.

Especially critical if another cathoic was fighting several holy wars against muslims and religious rebellions.
I tried to reproduce that and it indeed seemed to be the norm. Well checked it three times only, so well..

I wasn't allied to them or their enemies nor were they in a coalition against me.
They were defending against holy wars when i had joined and when the option to join wasn't there.
Is that a bug and if not what is the mechanic idea behind it ?
I'm irritated.

Anyone ?

You can only offer to join one war at a time for the same character.

No that's not it and doesn't seem to be true. That was my first idea, but no.
The original realm leader died and i still can't offer again. No option showing.

Edit: I also said that already in my opening post : "no matter if the other realms character died or not"

edit2 (probably misread/misunderstood):
Or did you mean to imply i tried to join several wars of one characters' realm at the same time ?
No i didn't.
One after the other.
That's what i meant when i wrote" could only help out once".
So i helped winning one holy war against him and then couldn't join against another holy war against him anymore.

No, I mean that if you are already defending someone against any type of war, you can't offer to join in any other defensive wars he might have. Doesn't matter if someone dies or not (unless your own character's death kicks you out of the war), the first war needs to end before you can join another.

EDIT: Sorry, missed your last line. Do you mean that even after the first war ended, you couldn't join another? I'm not really sure what's wrong, are you in some other wars that could prevent you from joining?

Yes, he's saying that after he put an end to the first war he joined, he tried to join another and the option "Offer to join war" was greyed out. I've seen this, too: among other things my character has a distant cousin in France (I've sown dynasts all over the place in the 240-odd years this game has been active), the Duc d'Poitou at the time. He had a couple vassals rebel and I didn't have anything better to do so I sent an army over to help against the first one, then discovered to my annoyance that I couldn't do the same to the second one (which eventually resulted in my cousin losing his duchy).

It wasn't even greyed out.
It simply wasn't there anymore.

Well......ii just tried to reproduce it on an older save and simply imprisoned the guy of the first war i joined to get to 100%.
The war was over and i suddenly could join the second war....

Hmm....my Charcater died in my regular gameplay in between the two approaches ( i'm terribly sorry for not mentioning it earlier),
but no trait nor piety or prestige i gave my now new character by using the console brought back the option to join
...as i started assuming it might be related, but doesn't seem to be...

edit:
Now i had killed my earlier char in my attempt ot reprodcue it and could now join too with his son in basically the same situaton...at least i can't see what might be different and logically affecting it...

Great i just got even more confused now..:(

Maybe the console does stuff different than when it happens in game regularly..
Well i don't know.
Stuff happens.

I did it on several occasions and the only rule I know is the one stated by Ultima_ratio: you can only join one war at a time per character, but you can fight 10 on their behalf over time if you fancy. Also, only a few CB types qualify for joining wars: holy wars (and great holy wars... I think, been a while) and apparently adventurers (then you can help the adventurer). Not sure if there are more (beyond religious rebels that you mentionned).

Yeah, thanks for the feedback.
Sadly, that's about what i already knew.
MIght be a bug then.

I guess it was simply a rare glitch in my game.
Who knows...

I looked through the save file, but didn't find anything that would suggest a bug to me.
Then again i didn't know what to look out for... :(

If i experience it again i'll report it as a bug and attach save files.

THANKS ALL. :)

Well there's my problem then. My idiot cousin is getting his but handed to him by pagans in county claim wars. Which aren't holy, like the one I helped him win those counties with. Thanks.

It helps to regularly marry landed dynasts with close relatives; marrying off a daughter for exemple still allows you to renegociate an alliance when you character dies off and his son takes over.

This is an FSS (father's sister's son) cousin, so not of my dynasty, so I've been planning for a while to replace him with an FBS cousin of my dynasty who'll become my vassal. I just don't want him losing my future clay in the meantime.
