First let me say I have no Idea how this could be included in the game but I think it could make the game more realistic.
I thought that it would be a nice touch if it could somehow be made so that offences run out of steam, due to logistical failings after a few hundred kilometers.
I think this would be more realistic on a slightly smaller scale than the HOI2 TC system allows which effected all forces. If it could be made more region specific it could add some interestic factors to the game.
Some justification for this would be this was one reason why Barborosa stopped after Minsk in the centre. It could also lead to the thin front broad front debate as SHAEF had after Normandy, and was a reason why the allies were a little precariously strung out for the battle of the bulge. It could lead to interesting tactical situations with limited counter attacks against offences that have over reached themselves, ala Moskow, Stalingrad and the to and fro North African desert before El Alamein.
Historically rail and sea transport were the only real options for moving the tons of supplies needed to support a war effort over thousands of miles, however truck and horse drawn transport systems were good for around 500 KM.
Is it possible to build up supply dumps at nominated provinces and then once you get further supply efficiency drops, leaving you to either build up more supply dumps further ahead or risk pressing on. I think the former should take time, if you consider the eastern front where railways had to be converted. This could also be influenced by partisan activity.
