Does someone know how to reduce the blue bars of the tech tree via Alternative Hoi2 Editor? I remember being able to do something like that once and it's been almost a year since I modified a tech tree.

How does modding of tasks(missions) occur if possible? I can’t find a database that determines what task does or where the binding of the task to a unit that can execute it is registered. I suppose all this is written in misc.txt, but in such an incoherent format, in which you can’t add anything new without a third-party program.

Minimum Defensive Vulnerability?
I'm modding a attachment-intensive mod to vary units more; but one problem is creating powers I think should be there (like engineers reducing defensive vulnerability by notionally improving fortification) with some units like armour reduces their defensive vulnerability to zero. I'm looking for a way to set a minimum defensive vulnerability on the units file but so far haven't found one. Can this be done?

I just looked at the one I did for the putin mod. It can just be a 32 pixel x 32 pixel x 24 bit .png file.

Hello all!

I've ran into an issue trying to do some modding of my own. Just to start off, I edit or create all the files using Notepad. If there's another app I should use, let me know!

When i created my own custom units (d_01, d_02, etc), it changed all the modifiers for the other units (infantry, cavalry, etc). Now units like mountaineers have terrible mountain attack and infantry cannot defend in clear weather. You can view the modifiers file in the same folder as units, brigades.

Has anyone ran into this issue before? Does anyone know how to fix this so that those modifiers for the regular unit types aren't affected? Also, does anyone know how add in modifiers for the custom units?

Any advice or help is greatly appreciated!

Anyone here has any idea how colorscales is supposed to work?

And it didn't make any more sense, either.

I have one big problem, namely, it seems UserColor does not work past 6. For example, here is a working Usercolor6:

When a color does not work, it defaults to bright yellow.

Its just me or this means you cannot make new colors? What's the point of even letting us edit the map colors, if this system is pretty much hardcoded and limits us to playing around with like five colors?

I was wondering if there's a small mod out there that adjusts navy build time? I'm not saying dh build time is wrong, it's just I'd like to play with quicker build times for my ships. I think it would make game play more enjoyable for me. If not would it be hard to change this by myself?

Its pretty easy, just find db/units/divisions and there you will find txt files for all the land, naval and air divisions. Change buildtime.

If you want to preserve balance, you might want to increase the cost to keep the IC/Day equal. For example: Something takes 10 IC to build, 100 days. That means it takes 1000 IC/Days (Btw I think its kind of a crime the game doesn't show IC/Day). 10 x 100 = 1000.

So for example, if you want to change this to make it faster, you change it to ic cost = 10 and buildtime = 50. Which means 500 IC/Day. But if you want to balance it, you simply make it 20 ic cost and buildtime = 50. 20 x 50 = 1000 IC/Days.

Of course, 20 IC/Day ships might make navies too prohibitive for anyone but the largest countries. Fiddle with the values as you will.

Make sure to backup the original files first.
