So I was testing out a game as Spain, and noticed something odd, I never got the mission to attack granada for the first 4 or 5 missions. I reloaded and tried again, and none of my many games have had it. Similarly, in 2 test games as portgal, I did not get the Mission to conquer tangiers and even got a protect against milan mission. Now, I know for a fact that those missions should not be taking precidence against the ones against the muslims, so is it a fluke? Or does the 5.2 patch affect this?

I also downloaded Death and Taxes recently, but it's 5.2 I'm playing, so I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it?

If youre playing vanilla, there should be no changes when it comes to chances that Castille will start with that mission to finish the reconquista or w/e its called.

If youre playing D&T then i dont know, it will depend on whether they changed the mission itself, or possible whether they made any map related changes (i think one the triggers for that mission has something to do with regions in Spain).

I think problem is in 5.2
Because I always play on 5.1, and when I play with Spain, in 90% of time the first mission I get is to conquer Granada.
I also played Death and Taxes on 5.1 and I had same thing like in vanilla. So it's gotta be 5.2..

At some point in the last couple betas some undocumented changes went in in regards to the Spanish missions. Some of them, like the ones you mentioned, won't fire until after 1420, 1440, 1460, and 1480.

The idea apparently was for Granada to live longer, so the missions were changed so the Castillian AI won't attack Granada as quickly.

A horrible change in my opinion, and it doesn't even fix the issue. And there's even more bad changes in regards to Castille and Granada pending for the next beta release (such as a fake war history where the two nations start the game with a truce), so if you agree with me I'd vocalize it over in the beta forums.

Granada tends to die so early because of the size of it's army due to it's horribly low force limits, not because of Castillian missions. But a horrible band-aid that negatively affects Castille was placed on the problem rather than addressing it the better way (allow for Granada to somehow have a larger army), and only way that will actually fix the issue.

A solution to your problem is to just copy the Spanish_missions.txt file from an older version of the game when they worked as they used to the newer beta. The file in question is located here: C:\Program Files (x86)\EU3\missions

Edit: My bad, the changes were documented in the 5/28 beta.
