Anyone else noticed some of the odd tech teams various country's have? Essentially some countries have tech teams ahistorically strong or weak.
Anyway some of the more iteresting things I've noticed.

Denmark has the 2nd best nuke team in the game. Niles Bohr lvl 8, with Nuclear Engineering and Nuclear Physics fields.

Poland has very strong encryption teams. Far enough they broke enigma.

France and the Soviets have weak tank research teams IMHO. Germans doctrines IRL were better, German armor was kinda weak at the start fo the war.

SAAB is a level 6 aircraft tech team with a rocketry field. This makes it one of the best teams in the game at researching Jet planes. Argueably the best after Messerschmidt and Von Braun at least until the USA gets the Skunkworks later in the game. Frank Whittle is level 7 but has less fields for researching Jets. Nakijima is OK but SAAB has industrial fields as well. Poland has a level 7 nuke team Stanislow Ulam

The FRG inherits alot of Nazi Germany's tech teams and has excellent land, air and rocketry teams. Any other oddities people have noticed?

the russians got their technology from the allies IIRC cuz they wanted the red army to hold as long as possible so i think thats fine.IIRC that is (S)

Oddities

Well I think its normal that Niels Bohr is a good at nuclear stuff. It's also unfair to Danish players if he emigrates to the US when you prevent the Nazi occupation of Denmark. Ever seen the play Copenhagen?

Things I find odd:

(i) There are planes built by Messerschmidt historically, that are better researched by other german teams in game(because of chemistry components).

But mainly: Companies don't learn or evolve over time. If the communist government of america (in some ahistorical mod) doesn't give IBM any tech projects until the 60's it hard to imagine them as a skill 7 tech team for instance.

You can change it all you like, just go to db/tech/teams and change the start date, end date, skill level, specialities and delete odd teams and add new ones - the problem you'll find is that this is a massive job and you'll have to bear in mind not just the actual values but the balance between Nations in-game to keep the game vaguely historic.

Alternatively you could just get AoD when it's out (hopefully in March/April) with an enormous tech team mod addressing just these issues.

Define 'odd'. Do you mean odd as in the best tech teams in the game are in minor nations or that their level or profession may not be what it is today.

Just whatever you feel is slightly out of place, or funny. SAAB developed Jets later but they have a good tech team for it in 36. Any teams slightly to strong/weak or whatever you like really.

Omar Bradley seems weak at researching the USA land doctrine. New Zealand has an equal level (Freyburg lvl 7) leader who is much better at researching doctrines for NZ than the USA one and he is available in 36. Freyburg also isn't to shabby at researching the US doctrine tree as well if you want.
