Very interesting event, I didn't know about it. This is really a strange surrender.

Most likely Sveaborg surrendered because commanding officer had a girl in Helsinki and he was afraid of her situation. However this is a rumour and therefore nonsense, but a good reason for such a bizzare surrender.

Well yeah. Russian conquest of Finland is most likely one of the most peaceful war ever because Sweden botched defence so badly.

To be fair Sweden also bothced the defence during the Great Northern War and it resulted in years of rape and pillage in Finland.

Come to think of it, did the Swedes ever treat Finland as anything else than a human shield in their wars with Russia?

Maybe not in the same vein as what everyone else is looking for/suggesting, but a French Calvary regiment once captured a Dutch fleet while it was at sea.

That is quite phenomenal. I'd love to have seen the face of the Dutch captains when boarded.
