War Issue

My current ruler is the King of a United Ireland, and is in a normal marriage with the Duchess of Brittany.

Obviously it would be in my interest to protect her sovereignty, so that when the Duchess passes away, Conell (The king and Duchess' son/heir) will inherit the Kingdom as well as the Duchy.

The plan started to fall apart when the King of France invaded the Duchy to install a Male Ruler with a weak claim. However my attempts to aid the Duchess are futile.

In the diplomacy menu I see no option to "Offer to Join War" that's usually present.

I did intervene in a similar war, were the Count of Leon tried to install himself as Duke. Is there a time limit before one can join the war of a particular ruler multiple times? Or is something else going on?

Are you still fighting the first war? You are only able to help a ruler in one war at a time if they don't ask you to join them.

The previous war is over, it's been around 2 years in game since the first war.

Did you/she decline a call to arms from the other? That normally keeps you from helping.

Maybe it has something to do with the type of war. I remember that I was unable to join a war for someone's claim to the throne of Castille even though my old king died while fighting in the same war. They were dynastic allies and everything.

I'm sorry I am no help. Have you tried killing the claimant?

Worst comes to worst, you could DOW France over something else and force them to split their forces.

Or you could let them win and then press the claim that your son will have once his mother dies. Probably an easier war to win.
