Odd D.O.W's

[HMS Enterprize]

Im tinkering with my mod and for some reason the UK & sometimes French AI, at around may 1939, for some odd reason suddenly declares war on germany... this is regardless of germany's belligerence (often zero)

This makes me think that an event (most probably an AI event) is causing this DOW. I have been looking to stop this occurence but I cant seem to find the source.

Can anyone help?

the british and french 1939 ais hate germany and have a higher war = number

Any other info you can give us? What ahistoric (relative to OTL) territories does Germany hold on the date in question? What have you changed in the ai files for UK and France in your scenario?

IIRC, UK & france AI attack priorities have not been changed, only to attack USA, so I dont think that is an issue.

This DOW usually happens at around the same time regardless of any other factors, leading me to think that this is something to do with an ai event or switch.

Germany has alssac (sp?) region and gibraltar, but again, the regularity of the time of DOW, leads me to suspect that claims is not an issue.

And this is starting from a 36 scenario BTW...

I'm not finding a spheres file for anyone besides Russia, but my gut's telling me that there's a sphere of influence check happening there in mid-39. I'll keep digging around.

If I remember right, in HoI1 some antions were hardcoded to hate other nations. For example, Germany would always declare war on Poland at some point. Maybe the UK and France are hardcoded to hate Germany. Not really sure on this but maybe thats the problem.

Nope, I dont believe so

the only thing i can come up with is that France and UK has always had that rivilary with Germany well it was always them three starting something (France faced both Prussia and Britain in Napoleans time) (World War I France and Britain against Germany) and so forth i think its just trying to prove whos the better combo

GW, no offense, but this gentleman is talking about gameplay in an ahistoric scenario. I don't see how comments on history help him in his predicament.

He is attempting to get the countries in question to act in the manner he dictates and is asking for help in how to do so rather than requesting an out-of-game rationalization for behaviour within the game.

As a stop gap measure I put in a peace treaty past may 1939, which runs out at december 1939, and as of yet the UK & FRA AI hasnt kicked off.

Although CSA then decided to randomly DOW USA....aarrhhh!

I dont suppose you know how to edit the puppet IC cap do you? It used to be set at 50IC for puppets now I think it has been changed back to 500!?!?! (pointless...but whatever)

sorry to wander off topic but about the CSA, I have not been in one single game yet as USA or any other country where the CSA, let alone the other splinter republic-states split off from the USA... would be cool to see it but I'm a purist and I really don't like to mod or manipulate unrealistically to get something to happen.

Im running a mod, where lots of ahistoric things happen, and I was refering to the actions of a nation rather than who it is in particular.

I was expressing a frustration with the amount of off topic posts in this thread...sorry if you were the one I snapped at but, its already frustrating enough when you have a problem you cant fix...
