Getting occupied, majorly fortified, and holding out as German bastions until the end of the war...

They were a big propaganda item for the germans as well since they had occupied sovereign British soil.

Thank you Paradox!

It did take me a very long while to post here.
It looks like an absolutely amazing game just waiting to be played.

The only one thing that is annoying at the eye, is the shape of Thrace (eastenrmost Balkan region of Greece bordering on Turkey) and Bulgaria as a whole. It is just that shown against the total awesomeness of western Europe they lack a bit.

I understand that they are maybe difficult to depict using the game engine and as such am Ok. with them as they are now. However they can be made to look so much better, I am sure of that.

Thank you again for an amazing game, now if only I had time to play it...

Its an alpha screenshot. They've said they are looking at the map, especially Bulgaria and others. :)

The first screenshot depicts the look when you are zoomed out in the political mapmode. There are no province or country borders there, as they simply would be too small. And yeah, we're still working on adjusting and tweaking province borders :) Bulgaria, Netherlands and Belgium especially.

The second screenshot shows Germany zoomed in in detail in the terrain mapmode, so you can see how many provinces there are.

(And in other news.. We've sent a few more screenshots showing other parts of the map to the press today so feel free to hunt them down..)

On the map I fount two typos/mistakes:
It must be Greifenberg instead of Griefenburg (in Pommerania). And it must be Brandenburg instead of Bradenburg. I hope some experts from the respective countries will check the game for such issues before the release.

And one province on the river Oder is named "Eisenhüttenstadt" although it got this name in the German Democratic Republic long after the war  .

Hmm.. I were really optimistic but when i had a closer look on the provinces they does look randomized. Much more then i any other paradox game... :(

Because HOI2 is a wargame, provinces should be standardized in sizes. Look at the HoI2. Search for Dortmund province. IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE from the military point of view.
Yes, the map looks dark, depresing and technocratic. And you know what? This suites the period very well.

That is actually a pretty serious issue. That it is on the eastside bank of the Oder, ok. But naming it Eisenhüttenstadt BEFORE it was even founded is pretty awkward. Or like Wolfsburg in a WW1 game. Or Leverkusen in 1700s.

Widescreen support!
That was pretty much a given since it's using the EU3 engine. Should support any res from 1024x768 to 1920x1200.

I just hope my computer runs it. Otherwise, HoI3 will be at least 500€ more expensive to me :(
Take a look at the EU3 and EU:Rome requirements. HoI3 will probably not be much different (may need a bit more RAM and CPU though). The major upgrade vs. HoI2 is the Pixel Shader 2.0 video card.

Search for HannibalBarcas2 mini-state mod. It's good and really cool.

I have already tried it, but now it is dead and it needs to be repaired.
The only way is to conquer the world with Hungary.
