I'm playing as Germany, and, for no real reason, Spain went to war with me when they had very little military force. As a result, I was able to force their capitulation rather quickly, and I took all of mainland Spain (in Europe) at the peace conference. To my surprise, resistance was instantly through the roof, around 70% in Catalonia and Basque territory. I had to go with martial law immediately, and I put one spy in each area to root out resistance. That approach has helped a lot, and resistance is now dropping below 50%. But I still have major problems in Spain that baffle me. There are areas of Spain that don't show up at all in my list of "occupied areas." And now they are even changing color on the compliance map and I can't even see what percentage of resistance or compliance they have. The Madrid area was the first one to show up that way, but now it has spread to three others as well. And from the very start the program would not allow me to place a spy there to root out resistance. I can still build in those areas and my troops and planes can enter as well, but I have no idea what's happening there in terms of resistance. Has anyone else experienced such a thing? What could the explanation be?
