Part V
The Delta , Egypt
Dear Diary
By this point we have been in training for about 2 months just a couple of weeks to go before the division is fully trained to British standards. All had been going well until yesterday when we got actual combat experience.
Yes thats right , Napoleon decided that the British millitary base in Delta would be perfect for his invasion of the Eastern Med. it's just us here and a squadron of Galley's. They arrived on the beaches at 0400 hours and they were a mile inshore before we knew. The british put the order out for us to dig in which we did. The turks also sent a division to aid us knowing they would be next.
So thats where we are entrenched about 2 miles inland waiting for the order to attack. there must be 3 French Divisions there. In the baking heat its really nasty. You would think i would be used to it but no. Water is in short supply so the British 4th calvary had better get here soon. Im lucky in that i have been in this situation before. some of the troops havent even had combat experience yet. This is where my leadership would either prevail or fail. The General training us had "gone on business to cairo" so we were really on our own. I have started to plan the battle

Having been blatently told that we were on our own by the Turkish General at the scene whos main interest is protecting Egypt i made plans for our attack. Late night about 3 days ago we launched a suprie attack. The French who were expecting us to surrender had few weapons and were actually all asleep. who said napoleons army were the best?
Late the next day it was broadcast in London that in 1 night we had taken 16,000 prisoners and killed 3,000. 2,500 got away but The threat to North Africa was gone... For now
I have now been told we are to head back to Gibraltar where we shall get our orders for the next mission . I expect it though to be much harder than anything i have ever fought before. Theonly thing i have had a battle with was the rebels in brazil.
Im glad though to see we are being treated like heroes in London. We should be
