On page 12 of the manual, it shows the top bar with all of the country info. I can figure out what all of them are except one. What is the national unt symbol meant to be? As I know discent is a flame but unity looks like a bra to me, D cup at that too. I'm guessing that I am wrong, or is national unity represented by the ratio of buxom women in your country?

Just curious as it's bugging me.

I think it's suppose to represent multiple ideologies (each of those circles being one), like bringing different people together. It's hard to tell in black and white.

Sorry to disappoint you, but it's a kind of triple Venn diagram.

Does the manual mention anything about the possibility of upgrading unit types?
(Militia to Infantry e.g.) I couldn't find anything about it.

The Encirclement combat event doesn't sound like it's a positive thing or am I wrong? I just seems to make combat bigger (i.e. involves more troops on both sides) instead of giving quite heavy andvantages to on side I think (maybe immediatly depleting strength of a division or so).
Upgrading of unit types is something you'll need to lobby for in an upcoming patch or expansion.

Encirclement is a double-edged sword. It may benefit you, or it may not, depending on who owns the balance (the majority) of divisions in the battle. Someone can actually get in alot of trouble if it happens, but that's part of the unpredictability of war!

I think the idea was to have converging circles -- three "polities" (voting blocs, perhaps) coming together at the center.

Another thing is that the occupation options seem a bit unbalanced. To me it sounds like Total Exploitation is bad (no manpower, high revoltrisk only for ressources and ic) while Collaboration Government is good. But maybe I'm wrong about that too.
You don't want massive amounts of IC to build more SH Battleships, Heavy tanks and Strategic bombers?!!! What's wrong with you? :p

Hm, though I dont care much about the balance of it - this will be easily moddable - I noticed the distinct lack of the use of the word "resource" in the manual. It mentioned manpower, IC and RR. Are we sure that occupation policy affects the amount of resources extracted, and if so, whats the source?

Im asking because this was an annoying hardcoded part in Hoi2. You could tweak how much IC youd get from occupied land, but never how much oil, energy, rares, etc. It was all hardcoded and it annoyed me immensely.

Since we know that occupation policies are in plain text files, learning that they can affect the amounts of resources extracted from occupied provs would be awesome news!

by far the coolest thing--when your units fight in combat, you get tech increases.

Well, the latter two points I'm sure (you would need 4 HQs to command the latter organization, 1 for the former), plus I'm sure that single brigades will be quite weak and prone to fragmentation in combat, since that's fought on a divisional level, and since each brigade will be by itself, each will take it's own frontage, limiting the number of units you can bring into combat (compared to divisions with organic support brigades). Those 5-brigade divisions will be able to fight longer and harder, and will probably take less damage to boot.

There's also the effect of combat width. Using 10 1 brigade units you'd only be able to get 10 brigades into combat, while 3 * 4 width divisions, or 4 * 3 width divisions let you put 12 brigades into combat.

Does this mean that we can play as Ethiopia and continue playing even NU collapses?

UK make peace, all Allied GIEs go to USSR

Not all that odd. De Gaulle flirted with the idea of relocating the Free French to Moscow at one point. I wrote a paper about the French Resistance a few years ago; I don't remember the exact circumstances, but I think it had something to do with strained relations with the UK and the desire to keep the Communist resistance in line.

Yeah. Basically, think of it as the more leftist GIE members making their peace with the Soviets and working with the communists just to keep the resistance alive, while the more rightest ones flee or resettle. Think of the Polish resistance: if the UK had been forced to sign a peace with Germany, I can certainly see some of them fleeing to Moscow and linking up the Home Army and whatever GIE resources remained with the tiny communist resistance, and working more closely with Stalin. A devil's bargain, but one that many might feel necessary.

Nukes & Rockets? Capital licenses?

Sorry if this has already been asked, but.....

According to P2.1, Rocket test platforms are prerequisite for producing rocket units. That would be a change from HOI2.

Accoding to P3.1, I can build as many reactors as I want (with a limit of 10 for each). Does that mean....10 provinces with 10 reactors each = weekly A-Bomb deliveries?

Best regards,
Roland

PS: Why can't I purchase licences for capital ships? Kongo was build in the UK, the remaining 3 ships of her class were copies build in Japan.

Btw, I read that divisions with many support elements will be harder to coordinate in combat (sorry, can't remember the page...). So does that mean they get some kind of combat penalty like losing more ORG or breaking earlier?

As Baneslave says, there's a stacking penalty per brigade.

But the mix of combat vs. support brigades also has to be carefully balanced, because if too much of your combat strength is behind the front lines, then you don't have alot of buffer against the enemy plowing through you (even if you're scoring MASSIVE damage on them because of your 4 artillery brigades!). :D
