I'll be either playing in the ERE as a duke, William the Conqueror, an Egyptian sultan, or in the Low Countries. Maybe Scotland. I don't know ... those are my usual haunts and I usually don't decide until right before I click Play.

With the new portraits, I'm going to play Ethiopia. I'm a sucker for wanting to try out new portraits. Maybe after that play some West African Pagan since it's not boring now

I'm probably going to try out Theodoros Laskaris in the 1204 start just to see those sexy Late Byzantine hats.
I'll probably play a East Germany duke trying to create Kingdom of Pomerania and unite the Baltic Coast under my banner.

I'm going for an early nomad start, in part to see how the fixes to Horselords play and in part to burn all of Europe down so they needn't suffer the black death. Totally an altruistic aim if you ask me.

I thought that to create Pomerania you have to either have Pomeranian culture or pagan religion?
Hmm, I am pretty sure I created it before as a Prussian Christian Duke so I don't see why I could not create it as a German Christian Duke...Although this happened I think more than 2 and half years ago so possible there were changes in the game. I am back to playing after more than an year.
Eh I think I will just wait until HIP releases a update ( Its just not the same playing Vanilla once you tasted HIP )
But if I do decide to play Vanilla. I think i might do something in Greece or maybe ireland. But Really I have no idea because its been so long since I played Vanilla Ck2

Nevermind. Just checked and turns out it's not like that in vanilla. I play HIP and CK2+ way too much...

Note that in Alania (Old Gods start) you have new Zoroastrian dynasty and Jewish dynasty to play as (Both are tribals).
These likely represent remnants of Iranian/Sarmatian paganism and the fact that when Alans were ruled by Khazars, Judaism spread around a bit. So all in all, Alania is interesting as you can go literally anywhere with it.

I've done that before as the Duke of Brandenburg in the 1066 start, turn the Eagle black and Holy War across the Baltic into Lithuania
I thought they removed pretty much all those cultural requirements for kingdom creation a long time ago.
EDIT: OK, checked and the AI needs to be pagan to form it but the player has no restrictions.
I don't have the "King of Lombardy after 1300" achievement yet. I figured it would be a good one to aim for with the new changes.
I am going to start in Iceland and create a prosperous kingdom of islands. Hoping to get to max holdings throughout the north sea, although it will be super long up there in those desolate arctic winters. If all goes according to plan I'll be perfectly set up to get to the new world in EUIV.
