Obligatory: What Will You Play First?

This is a topic that is inevitable with each expansion. I recall seeing it last time, too. With Conclave, I remember seeing a lot of people talking about all the new realms to re-experience.

I think I will play a Buddhist Republic. I've never really played a Buddhist before, and starting near where the Black Death first appears could be exciting. Playing as a republic affords me the money to really try out the new hospital holding, and Buddhism means I'll have plenty of learning at my court. The buff to Theology focus means I'll probably have a series of priestly rulers just for the experience.

I'll probably wait with playing this expansion until HIP gets updated, but once that happens I'm going to play as either a Solomonid to try and conquer all of East Africa, a de Penthievre duke of Brittany, a Gostautas tribal chief/soon-to-be Grand Duke or as some viking trying to carve out his kingdom in Pomerania. I just can't choose, too many good options!

I will start as Strategos Elpidios of Sicily from 769 start. Haven't played greek character for a while, and Sicily is rich enough for building hospitals.

I prefer pagans and always try reformation, so either Norse father of Ragnar Woolen Shorts in 769 or Duke of Zemgale in the same start.

I'm thinking Irish tribal and using raiding to boost prosperity. Should be more challenging now the other tribes can use their tribal levy.

France or Central Asia. Can't decide.

Whenever I think of Black Death, I imagine the picture of medieval Europe from all those documentary films... And France seems as an obvious choice. Plus, I can't remember the last time I played in Western Europe.

Also, I could play as a horde from Central Asia, and charge towards West, bringing Death itself (in various forms) to Europe.

I'll probably play both scenarios.

Charly boy, will create Francia and turn it into a Frankish pure realm. No smelly French culture allowed. Going full despotic imperial style government, also Spain will belong to the Empire! Paris will be the center of the world with the best healthcare around, leaches for everyone! Also all this new torture and vampire/cannibal/immortal stuff begs for some sort of Carpathian play though. Maybe Avar into Vlach culture? The Avar dukes in Charly start have some cool CoAs.

Hasn't anyone been paying attention ? Are you all MAD ?! The devs clearly stated that major diseases will travel along the Silk Road and will be more likely in provinces that have high prosperity and or Trading Posts.

The answer is obvious. Burn it all down ! Every last trade post, every last building and if need be every last holding. Start as King Karl in the CM start, go nomad and and turn all of Western Europe into a charred, barren hellscape.

It's the only way to avoid catching the plague, can't you see . . . ?

Kinda hoping that bit about AI assessing threats better or whatever wording it was means Arabs invade East Africa less, really been wanting to roll Solomonid since Conclave.

If they're still invaded willy nilly going to probably play around in 1066 France as Anjou or Hudid, maybe Assam and chill in Old Gods to see just how prosperous one can be. Or just play good old Makedon since I can force gavelkind on unruly strategoi apparently.

I'm currently planning on playing Georgia first (perhaps starting with king David the builder, if not then probably in 1066). Second, probably be playing the last member of the Breizhe dynasty, a count in Brittany whose dynasty I can't find anything specific about on the internet, but according to ck2 owned the kingdom of Brittany for so long they have nearly as much dynastic prestige as the Ummyads in the charlie bookmark, so that's cool, try to restore the kingdom of brittany and expand from there I guess. Thirdly, my final planned playthrough is as Nestorian Socotra: heresy swap to Mesallian for neato incest marriage and gender equality for rulers, and then spread the true faith all across the map. By the time I've done all that in ironman, the mods I like (Geheimsnacht, agot, elder kings, etc) will probably be updated so I can play those again. Ooh, and this update fixes razing mechanics for nomads so maybe I will finally do a full campaign as a steppe horde too! Oh, the possibilities...
