I tried searching for "Objectives needing direct lines" and found nothing.

When you have different lines covering the objective points - say three hotels. It still requires that you have a direct line there. Even though all the points are covered by some sort of line. Even though there is an achievement called "Hopping Vehicles"

Can't the building generate some sort of sim person to get on the transport and hop different lines to get to full fill the objective points?

To handle the objectives that need direct lines, just build a bus-stop at every objective point (if there isn't a stop covering this place already) and connect them with one bus-line. Afterwards just delete these line. Those lines rarely fit into your public-transportation-network.

Do what raudi says. It will take time; and when it's finished, delete it. (Unless the places happen to be on a good route for a metro line you've been planning for a while or you coincidentally already having a line connecting)

When playing Sandbox mode I tend to ignore/not accept tasks such as these. Often making a profit between the two points doesn't make much sense anyway.

Wanting to manage my company in a realistic way as I do, I try not to benefit from these minigoals. Would like to see these goals actually taken away from CiM as it's just so easy to cheat with them. Or at least make it a condition to travel x passengers on the line as well/keep the line running for at least a year and so on.

In any case, the minigoal part of the game should be revamped in a way. It feels weird that these goals can hang on in the task list for many years (game time). Time limit for goals and possibly a penalty to be paid for an accepted task whose conditions player was not able to fulfill! Anyone?

I agree. Time limit tasks would be great, also with penalty. Maybe something like that are in the New York Expansion.

But the penalty tasks should come from the main character, which by the plot we play, is the only one that have an authority on you.
Imagine a boy scout asking for a line to his house and you get penalty because you didn't want to do it. :S

Or the penalty can exist for all tasks, if we are able to see what the task is before accepting it.

What kind of NY expansion are you talking about? I couldn't find anything about it anywhere except this forum. (Steam, GamersGate, CiM homepage...)
