OAKLAND

Welcome on the topic of Oakland Capital city. Oakland is the capital of a little independent country located on the tropics. It is the economical and institutional lungs of the the nation. It is now currently hosting 160.000 inhabitant and it stills growing. It is highly developed and specialized in high end product, with a fast growing industry. It require massive import of raw materials trough it's harbor and rail network. Oaklandians are very refined and cultivated people giving an utmost importance to the respect of environment.

.

A general view of the skyline of Oakland:

the skyline is changing according to the expansion of the city:

The city is so big that it is hard to show you the whole thing on a single picture. Here is a south view of t city:

Here is the north part of the city. The town is cut in two from west to east by the Oak river:

The recent massive development of the public transport leads to the cars to be rare on the road:

the road system was very developed to avoid long traffic jam, but recently since the metros and trains took away most of the computer, the road are very fluids and streets are barely crowded:

The metro is the most used with 25.000 daily user and the train is around 5000 computers a day on a total population of 160.000. The train network is also intensively used by freight trains to relieve the roads from heavy trucks:

The Opera neiberhood and its parks:

the same area with the justice department:

Oakland Is a city that recycle a lot. You can find a center always close by your area:

to further reduce the traffic amount to lower pollution and noise in the city, the mayor is now developing toll gates on all the highway system. Here is one of the first implemented:

The road network is very well maintained and can often leads to overspeed:

We are always trying to improve the city and lower the noise level. You can see here the semi diging of the main train tracks going trough the down town:

Due to the very dense traffic of trains in the downtown, we had to upgrade the line to 6 tracks:

The city is very green and full of a multitude of little parks. Here is the parks of the four lions heads:

One of the biggest mall of the city, right in the downtown and surrounded by its big park. People likes to roam around to relax themself:

An other view of this marvelous place:

Many bridges cut the Oak river. The river is almost exempted of pollution due to a fantastic sewage system and water treatment:

Here is the old international airport of Oakland City. As this facility is too close from the town, very noisy and getting too small, a new big international airport is under construction and will be finished around end of September 2015. The old airport will become then a regional business airport with restricted use during the night :

The primary source of energy of the city is coming from this big nuclear power plant having 4 reactors. It is equipped with a huge cooling system by the water of the river. The whole complex is deployed on an island in the middle of the Oak river:

One of the numerous train stations of the city. The town has been developed around the interaction of metros / trains connection:

The center of Oakland City is split by three vey large stations. Here is the north Oakland main station. A complex of two train stations and four métro stations:

The same station on a different angle:

The six tracks crossing the downtown. There is always a freight station in the city center to feed the commerces:

The middle downtown station of Oakland. This complex is having 2 strain stations and 5 métro stations:

a view of the highest tower of the city with its panoramic restaurant:

The south downtown station. The biggest complex with two train stations and seven métro stations. The trains stations were so crowded that I had to download trains in the workshop that can hold more then 240 passengers:

A view from above of this main station:

The economical lung of the region:

In the past when my public transport wasn't so developed, the traffic was very heavy and I often had to be very creative to get rid of traffic jams:

The Eden project has been a huge developpement that lead to the increase of wealth of the terrains / lots prices:

There are no landfill in Oakland, everything is recycled:

This part of the city is in early developpement. The north part on the other side of the river then the downtown is now growing fast. It is now hosting a huge harbor and a new commercial area, as well as the old international airport of the city:

A view of the downtown skyline:

The north side of the city is also hosting the sport complex with the main stadium:

The old highway has been tunneled and the free space gained on the ground level has been transformed in a big park:

A huge harbor is being developed and still a big WIP at the current stage:

An other view of the north part of the city. Still undeveloped and need a lot of improvement in the near futur:

Here the highway has been sunken but I am not fully satisfied with it yet:

The south east part of the city is also not being at a rest. We are developing a huge freight train station:

To finish this update, here are a few shots of the city from above to give you a general idea of the architecture and the road network of this very large capital:

I hope that you enjoyed this visit :)

Love the City, one of the best builds I have seen, nice to see also detail being made to parks instead of just plopped down, can I ask are you using a steam workshop map and if you are which one?

Hello everyone. This city is based on a personal custom map from Bradenton FL that I did myself.
The city made a perfect transition into the After Dark patch and is running increadibly smoothly.
Here are the shots of the expension to 200.000 inhabitants.
Enjoy the views.

Loving it -- some of these could be (should be) promotional screenshots for the game! :D

I'm pretty sure you already know this, but the quieting down of traffic is also due to you getting closer to the agent limit; as there can be only 65k agents out at once, the bigger the city gets, the more spread out they'll become, meaning there's less traffic in any one area. Although with 200k residents, I'm not sure if this should yet be apparent, as people have made cities with close to 1 million residents (almost no traffic in a city of that size from what I've heard).
