NW Territories Wasteland not Filling in

I think the Northwest Territories wasteland should be filled in for California in this case: of the 6 non-wasteland provinces bordering it, California owns 4, while Alaska and Canada own one each. This is a strict majority, so the wasteland should be filled in, right?

Different colonial nations holding the required provinces would be my guess.

Yeah, I have definitely seen CN's colonizing outside their regions, but I directly counted how many provinces each CN had and I made sure to colonize them myself so the provicnes would go to the correct one...

Your screenie shows a 3 way split on its borders so I don't see any sort of bug in play here. The patch notes or dev diary (don't remember where I saw it) pretty clearly stated that wastelands color in when some nation owns 50+% of the provinces bordering it.

California owns 4 out of the 6 non-wasteland provinces bordering the wasteland. I think that's over 50%...

Thanks! Is it possible that adjacent wasteland provinces count too? There are 2 wastelands bordering NW territories, and 1 is owned by each of Alaska and Canada, so California owns 4 out of 8 bordering provinces, which isn't over 50%.

It's not supposed to be that way (afaik) but yes, that is probably it.

What if you guys change it so that in that situation, if the wasteland is surrounded by several of your colonial nations, the one that has the most adjacent provinces gets it no matter how many.
