IN WW2 nukes were just a big bomb, no one knew about the radioactive consequences. Morality to do with using nuclear weapons didn't develop till much later. dissent for using nukes shouldn't be in the game

the only way using nukes causes dissent in RL is if they are used unnecessarily, and the line between using them necessarily or not is so blurry that paradox would have to invent a true AI with feelings and the ability to make decision based on ethics... and i don't think anyone is even close to that, or will ever be in my life time at least.
to give an example of what i'm talking about: there weren't any protests in the us when they dropped the bombs on japan in '45; but if a democratic nation were to nuke a major city just because i think street riots would ensue. On the other hand if the nazis were to level london then i don't know whether the pop would have such a major problem with that... and that why i say it's not easy to determine an algorithm for the AI to determine when to revolt or not.

Considering the state the world was in at the time and the years of basically hating the other guy I doubt anyone beyond a very VERY small minority of people would protest even if 6-8-12 nukes had been dropped on Japan.

Dropping of nuclear bombs would probably force the government to the table, no matter what... I think a hefty warscore increase should do the trick.

If you use nukes on another nation shouldn't there be a moral backlash in your nation, causing your dissent to rise? I don't know if it's already like that. I'm just curious.

I dont think so much a dissent thing for the reasons stated by other people in this thread.

But I do think nukes need a little more political power. Having a nuke should be able to force some nations to negotiations. I always hated how the AI ignored my peace proposals when I could nuke their capital.

of course since the power of nukes was little known during this time, this may not be useful until the cold war begins...

I agree...AFTER the first nuke is used, and as long as the opposing factions don't have comparible tech.
