I started playing HoI 2 with ARMA a couple of weeks ago and I have two newbie questions:

1. I found out that nukes are built automatically. I know how to add them to the appropriate units (same way as adding a brigade), but I do not know what the appropriate units are. I a currently researching the tech that allows me to add them to flying bombs (V1, V2?), but I would like to use them already. To which units do I have to add them?

2. I wanted to load paratroopers to my transport plane in N-Germany, rebase my transport, and do an airborne invasion. This does not seem to be possible, it seems that my paratroopers have to walk to the airbase in S-Germany, from where I can load them to the transport and do the invasion. Is there a way to transport you own units through the air?

I have only got normal HOI2, so this might not be valiud for ARMA.

1. You can add them to strategic bombers - that is perhaps more cost efficient than using rockets. Unfortunately, bombers can be intercepted and shot down while rockets can´t.

2. No. The only country that airlifted entire divisions in WWII was Germany, and that was only on two occations (Crete and tunisian campaign).

Both point are valid for Armageddon, too.

Also, as for the Paratroopers, you could try loading them on transports to get them closer to yonder airfields - that is, if you have Gibraltar and a Mediterranean shore.

Thanks for your answers. I was trying to add my nuke to tac bombers, but I guess strat bombers make more sense.

Do you mean transport ships? Would be kind of risky because I don't exactly rule the seas ;). But thanks for the suggestion.

Walk your airborne units to the nearest airfield. Fly transport planes there to pick them up and paradrop them over the southern base. From there, load them onto planes again and proceed with the mission. I think that should work.

Yes, use strat bombers for those nukes.

Since that leaves your planes at 0 ORG you might actually need much longer to regain that ORG than the Paras would need to make the walk over 100% infra provinces in Germany. For high distances check for the duration of SR first.

The simplest way is just to strategic redeploy your paratroppers to the best suitable airfield by holding in Ctrl while right-klicking on the chosen province. Then just rebase your aircrafts there and when your fallscirmjägers pops up a few days later, voila, you are ready to go.
