Nuke world record? 529 units!

Hi, everyone!

I just had the greatest HoI-moment ever, at least in terms of efficiency.

Germany, vanilla 1.06, normal/normal.

The year is 1947.

I kept Russia sort of out of the war by using the "leave the adjacent polish provinces alone".
After taking Europe (except England) and Africa, I let things go smooth. Concentrated on researching and fleet destroying.

Finally I thought it was time to take on the Russians who were up to 640 divs.

My strategy:

1. wipe out Russian air force. That was surprisingly easy. With only 9 fighters I shot down about 50 russian planes. Seems like they only invest in land techs...

2. destroy all Polish forces by tactical bombers. Don't have to mention that this was simple.

3. Took polish province Grodno, then withdrew immediately.
-> Russians conquered it.
Now Grodno was the only province, the only border on the eastern front. Russians couldn't attack anywhere else because the remainders of Latvia, Poland and Romania were part of the allies.

4. What happened next froze me in fear. The red army went on a march to Grodno, sort of like Mekka you could say.
509 russian divisions were accumulated in Grodno!!!!

5. Fortunately I had an answer.
The trouble was, I had an answer but no delivery device for it.
Build one V2 rocket.
The next 45 days were like hell for me.
Fortunately the Russians didn't dare to attack my now 150 divs strong level 5 fortress in the adjacent province.

6. V2 ready!!!
Atomic bomb loaded, countdown starts...

7. "Moscow we have a problem!"
These were the last words of the Red Army in Grodno...

If you estimate one division consisting of 10.000 soldiers, then I must have killed over 5.000.000 russian soldier in a blink of an eye...

Ummm...uhh...I once nuked Tokyo, destroying about 100 land divisions (mostly militia that I chased from elsewhere in the home islands), almost all the Japanese had left. It's not quite as good as that, but...

Ummm...uhh...I once nuked Tokyo, destroying about 100 land divisions (mostly militia that I chased from elsewhere in the home islands), almost all the Japanese had left. It's not quite as good as that, but...

Before this I never caught more than 100 divs with a nuke. I still don't know what the Russians were thinking.
Maybe they were afraid that I could attack Grodno or they wanted to attack me.
Maybe because it was the only border for them.
Maybe the a.i. needs some serious update...

When I think of all the 1.06 pain on the eastern front I have had before, this could be godsend.

You think I should spread my 150 divs a bit to avoid direct repayment?

Nah... as long as I keep them away from the metropoles the russians can repay me as much as they please.

It wouldn't matter on their strike back. The AI attacked my high IC provinces which pretty much brought my economy to a screeching halt. High dissent stepped in. I had a massive army yet no way to produce supplies for it. The AI is sometimes smarter than you think.

I had most of my mech/armour nuked by the US once in a MP game. Just when I had Russia on the backfoot.

But I tricked him into letting me live, and won :rofl:

After one hour of trying to upload my bloody screenshot to the internet, it's finally done.

Oh yeah, you might wonder why there are 529 russian divs (the pic is somehow blurred).
Well I didn't make the screenshot right away. I reloaded the game before I nuked them. This time I got even more russians trapped.

So the new inofficial unconfirmed nuke world record:

529 units!

Ummm well....like those competitions about who can complete Quake fastest....impressing....I guess, but where's the fun. Gamewise I mean?

Sure you can lure the AI into doing stupid things. Like defeating the whole RN with 4 naval air. But where's the fun? I want a near-realistic wargame so I try to avoid such unrealistic twisted strategies.

Of course it's an exploit. Not that I planned to do it, but come on, if you see this opportunity can you resist to push the red button???

One could say that it's pretty boring having to follow the hardcoded russian a.i. into a long term war each and every game.

At least this problem is solved... My first game as Germany where I don't have to deal with the red army.

I continued the game for some months now, took Moscow in no time... The allies will be in for a tough fight afterwards. USA has almost conquered Japan. Could turn out to be not so boring after all.

BTW.

I have 2400 mp! I don't know how that happened. Okay, didn't build too many units (250 land forces total, 80 air, some 70 sea), but since 1.06 I always had serious mp issues. Even with the "man of the people".

Hehe, no just did the same thing as I did with Romania, Estland and Latvia. Left one strip of land unconquered. One slim strip of allied land.

Could have taken Bresz nad Bugem (or however you spell it), but I wanted to concentrate my fortified frontier behind the river.

It's just a pity that Russia didn't DoW any of them.
