In AoD (and HoI2) only the US, USSR and Germany can really afford to build nuclear reactors and do anything else with their IC at the same time.

However,
The UK started testing its first nuclear weapons in 1952, France in 1960 (a big step since America's first nuclear weapons test was only a month before Hiroshima was bombed). Both with in the time scale of this game, yet neither can build nuclear reactors unless that is absolutely the only economic action happening. Chain's 1st test was in '64, and a debate could be made if, in game, China could modernize enough to accomplish that.

Of course, out side of the game's time frame India, Pakistan and North Korea are known to have tested nuclear weapons and others have had active programs, yet clearly none of these countries have a chance of building nuclear reactors.

So, my question is, "Should and event/Tech around 1948--1950 lower the cost of nuclear reactors" Perhaps lowering the cost to 25IC instead of 50IC.

By the mid forties as Nat Chi I have 100 Civilian Reactors and a level 9 test reactor. It's possible if the AI decides to go for it...However, not even the US AI is building them in my game so the problem is probably with the AI coding.

It's entirely possible to do in the game as the UK, France, or China. The Swedish program would probably be more or less impossible though.

Actually, quaazi, South Africa had 6 bombs by the mid-1980s. At the end of the decade, it gave them up mostly because it feared the prospect of a nuclear-armed ANC should it have taken over the government.
