Why is there a possibility in HOI to construct nuclear propulsion for naval applications?
Nautilus were launched -54, Enterprise -60, and Long Beach -61! Neither of these dates is within the confines of the WW2 timespan. What is more, neither of these were possible to develop during the timefrmame we are talking about! So, please, no nuclear powered ships in HOI2!

Most tech trees went past the timeline, the idea being that a nation dedicated to research in an area might have gone farther than they did historically

Plus, its nice for those of us that use the NoTimeLimit Mod :) So, my vote is to keep them in there. If you don't play past the time limit, why worry too much about it. I've never seen my enemies gain nuclear carriers by 1947, course I only played a few games that long.

Because its fun :D

Seriously, I agree that nuclear propulsion are beyond the time frame, but when you get to the point were you can build them, the outcome is most of the times inevitable. My opinion is that they add a nice touch to the game.

I fully understand your opinion, though.

I have never got to build them. Actually few times nucs were in the queue, but would be completed by 1948-9. Let them be... You theoretically could build them if you zipped through the tech tree...

You can have A-bombs in 1942 if you do the research from the start of 1936. After that you are close to nuclear propulsion.

I strongly oppose shrinking the tech tree, and I strongly oppose not including techs that were in HOI 1, and I think the max year for techs researchable in the tech tree should go as far as 1965.

Geez, I sound like a broken record. Perhaps I should just put this in my sig and some title like "President of the supporters for a huge tech tree association". :D

I suppose I could, while fighting with pre-war Luftwaffe and PzKpFW II (maybe). Russians would eat me alive, for breakfast, asking for more... Although I would won in Atlantic. I could build new Berlin. In some sunny place - Azores maybe?

I've had Nukes around 42-43 (I go straight for the Tritium Bomb), and I also managed to build up my forces, upgrade, and do other research. I did not research every possible Nuclear Tech all the time, though.

OTOH you could build/research a lot of stuff you could not do otherwise, sometimes that path is better.

My nukes helped me to wipe out half the Russian army and air force once (around 200 army divs and 20-30 fighter divs), since then I kind if got attached to them :)

Errr... What class of ship is Long Beach? I haven't heard of those before.
