I noticed that since very early on in AoD, CVN consumes 2 oil and only has a range of 5000 ---- both of which makes it seem like not any more special than a conventional CV.
Whereas in Arma I believe it was 0 and 7500 respectively.
Nobody here ever complained about this ? lol
Probably because nuclear navy not worth the effort?

Well, while it's true that of course I can tweak these values easily on my own,
it feels a lot better if it is officially addressed :p

Also, it would have been nice if we could also fit nuclear reactors to CVLs... so they could keep up with the rest of the nuclear ships...

Some might question the effectiveness of CVLs in late games,
but part of the HoI fun is building your own dream fleet/army, isn't it :D
I am fond of CVLs, who protect valuable supplies from pesky subs and raider fleets, building up for the foundation towards victory,
but are never truly recognized, when CVs get all the credits for winning major naval wars :(

Well if you think about it, their aircrew still uses fuel. Granted their range should still be longer

I don't think it is useful or even possible. CVL is an outdated design, it had no future. By the end of the war the USA had built more than 100 CVLs, they were all scraped because there was no use for such vessels anymore. Other ship classes took over the sub defense duty. Make this modification for yourself if you want, but it's something that shouldn't be in the basic game.

CVL wasn't outdated as a design, but the way it was used. It needed a new invention (sort of new) to make itself useful again, the helicopter.

Maybe make a new brigade whenever helicopters were used at sea in large(r) scale, and then you can choose to keep the outdated light CAG with semi-decent air defence, or go for the ASW focused modern helicopters.

But, this is out of the scope of the base game, as I assume we are closer to 1960 then 1945 here, so maybe in a mod...

Well, that is if they are already loaded with CAGs :D
But that 2 fuel consumption comes from an empty CVN
It seems more reasonable for CVNs to start consuming fuel only after loading CAGs onto it :p

I don't think it is useful or even possible. CVL is an outdated design, it had no future. Well I cannot agree with this for the reason of being unable to have CVLNs in vanilla AoD, since we could already fit nuclear reactors to many ships to make imaginary naval units, like the BBN, BCN, CAN, CLN, and DDNs --- none of which really proved to be of much use (in terms of bucks), or even made into the reality :)

Not to mention that BBs and BCs already had a far greyer future than CVLs during the war when the Japanese reminded the Yanks of this in Pearl Harbour :D

Adding the option of CVLNs shouldn't hurt the vanilla in any ways :)
