Now I really hate colonial nations!

Starting a game as Spain, Aug. 13, 1516. I started at that date. Haven't done anything yet.

My colonial nation, Hispaniola, does not grant me military, naval, or colonial-range access. (By the last I mean that their territory does not count as "mine" when determining colonial range. I am told that I cannot colonize Seminole because it's too far away from *The Canarias*!)

To top everything off, they are my rival!!!

Is this a bug, or is this what colonial nations are supposed to do?

It it your colonial nation? Because subjects can't rival their overlords. Using non-bookmark dates can mess up the colonial nations if you mess with the dates a bunch.

edit, after checking the date, spain doesn't start with any colonial nations, so it's not bookmark/date messing up.

Is Hispaniola my colonial nation? Well, now I'm not so sure, although it does have Spain's half-shield. It's not listed as an ally.

And yes, this is a non-bookmarked start date, but that shouldn't matter. (I chose it as the first date Spain is united and not at war.) So I think this is a bug!!

Nothing happens when I click that icon, which I suppose means that Hispaniola is not my subject (nor anyone else) .

The button is only clickable when you have subjects, so somehow Hispaniola broke away.

There was, I'm not sure if it's 100% fixed but Aug. 13, 1516 is around when spain gets it's first province in south america.
