ever since the newest update of launcher (16.12.2021) game doesn't work, mods seem to be broken and it gives me error about database migration

yep, it just keeps saying this, Ive deleted the file multiple times and Ive renamed it multiple times too but it doesnt change anything

Please try the following:
- unsubscribe from all mods in BOTH the Steam Workshop and the Paradox mod site mods.paradoxplaza.com
- delete the folder Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4/mod/
- delete the file Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4/mods_registry.json (if present)
- delete the file Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4/launcher-v2.sqlite (if present)
- run the game up and check the launcher is okay with no mod or other errors
- subscribe to a few mods
- run the game up and see if those mods are now available to you.
I hope that does it for you!

same problem. Completely clean reinstall after deleting the entirety of the EU 4 document folder and game files. database error reoccurs making it impossible to use any mods.

Hello,
I did the above, uninstalled mods, etc and it did not work. The game is not able to be run from launcher. Below both errors. First picture before removing launcher-v2.sqlite. Second one trying to rerun it after deleting the file us suggested above. Clean re-install did not work either. Running the game directly from EUIV.exe works, but there are no mods.

Exact same problem for me. Hope they find a solution soon! The game was working perfectly yesterday.

Ohh, and if I try to launch the game by bypassing the launcher, then it does not recognize any of my DLCs!

AFAIK the "Database migration failed" error is caused by ransomware protection software which blocks the launcher from writing its files. Often a ransomware protection is built into an antivirus, but has a separate exception list to which eu4 and the launcher have to be added.
Disclaimer: I'm not working for Paradox. I'm just trying to help people.
- If you have Windows Defender(also called Microsoft Defender), add the launcher and eu4 to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list(here are instructions for that).
- If you have bitdefender, add the launcher and eu4 to the list of ransomware exceptions and "give it access" to "protected files".
- If you have avast, you have to add the launcher and eu4 to the allowed list in the ransomware shield

This is looking like a bug in the new launcher version 2021.10.1, I'm sorry to say.
Do make 100% sure that C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2021.10.1/paradox launcher.exe is in the exceptions lists of your antivirus app, especially Ransomware in Windows Defender if that's all you have.

I now have reports of this with Avast antivirus only, except just 1 report on AVG. Putting the launcher in all its exceptions lists seems to be fixing it reliably.
I also have one report that opting into the beta of the next launcher version 2022.1 helped.

I have AVG anti virus. I turned off the ransomware protection and the EU 4 launcher works fine. I turned it back on and the database problem reoccurs.

This worked for me, thanks! Updating to the beta version of the launcher did not.
Do you have the "database migration" failed error message or something else? If you do get that message, which launcher version do you have? And did you add the "paradox launcher.exe" from the folder which has that exact launcher version in its name, to the allowed list in the ransomware shield of the avast antivirus? Just adding the folder to the list is not enough.
I had the same problem with the launcher. I got it going with changing from AVG Antivirus.
