Hordes are really unpredictable but usually what happens is they go on a massive rampage and then collapse due to WE, rebels and never ending wars or they lose a decisive battle or get unlucky with rebels/conquest such as getting a border with Ottomans, Poland-Lithuania and Hungary at the same time. The first or second TSC (tribal succession crisis) is usually the nail in the coffin for them.

Basically, what you did when you changed the core time (to what I assume is instant cores) is that you pretty much removed 90% of their rebels, gave them a huge tax and manpower boost which in turn gives them even more armies that they can dedicate to the front since they have almost no rebels at all to deal with. And when their khan died and when they SHOULD have their first TSC they already cored everything so the only thing that happened was that a 8-9k pretender rebel stack spawned somewhere rather and 5k rebels in every uncored province, since they have none.
