Not receiving alerts properly

Appologies if this is already a known issue, but depsite having many, many threads on my watchlist I'm only receiving reply alerts for about two or three of them(yes I checked my alert settings), I thought the long migration and various issues might have just killed off conversation in old ones and new threads maybe just died(I dont tend to browse the actual forum list very often) but I only just found the unread watched threads list and saw loads of threads, active in the last 48 hours even, that i'd never received alerts for.

There's an option to receive alerts for simple posts which you must have disabled. You can customise it pretty comprehensively. I switched that one off deliberately to stop getting spammed alerts, while leaving on alerts for people quoting my posts for example.

As I said, I checked my alert settings; "Receive an alert when someone... replies to a watched thread" is ticked and as far as I know always has been. I've always received alerts for replies in the UK politics thread, but missed many posts in the US politics thread. I also used to receive alerts for an AAR I was enjoying and then they stopped, I assumed the thread had gone inactive but after seeing it in the watched threads list there are five pages of new replies since I last read it, the most recent of which was less than six hours ago and not a single alert did I receive.

You would only receive a single alert, when the first unread post was made. The following posts, even if over several days, would not trigger additional alerts.

Could you go back through the log of your alerts to find the time when the first post was made that you missed, and confirm you didn't receive an alert then?
