I intended to get the nova edition, but then was happily surprised by the fact that Switzerland got a fair exchange course. Therefore I got myself the Galaxy edition at 66 CHF, which was still cheaper than other AAA titles (like dark souls 3 for example) at 74 CHF.
(That 27% price hike the moment swiss francs were introduced was a asshole move, nowadays it's cheaper to buy a hard copy in a swiss store than buy a digital copy... So Paradax shall have an additional 18 CHF from me for not being a part of that.)

the increase from the middle pack to galaxy pack isnt really worth it :/ (though im pleased paradox switching it up trying some sort of pre order bonus packs.)

maybe add more shiz to it?

edit: If you let galaxy people play on the 8th you'd have 400% more sales of galaxy.

What you propose is like opening can of worms.... That would be exact route towards horrible preorder practices, which most of us hate anyways.

Paradox preorder deal is fair

You get an E-book and an E-artbook for 20€ more than Nova. I don' t know about you, but that's a very, very sweet price. Most artbooks go for 30€ and E-book go between 15-20€.
So if you do not think that is 'worth' it, stop crying and just buy the standard or Nova please. Paradox is doing an amazing job here on all possible aspects of the game, including the pre-orders and different packs. Keep up the good work Paradox, because in you we trust!

... I dunno, a whole NOVEL, as well as a 130-page game development book AND a limited edition wallpaper seem like enough to me, not to mention extra forum badges/reocgnition. I mean, honestly, just try going out and buying TWO BOOKS and a wallpaper for like, $20. Can't happen unless that shit's on sale.

Wallpapers are free and e-books are constantly below 10 Dollar. The print costs make mostly the price of a book btw. and ebooks don't have print costs. In case of a video game things like music or art are already paid with the normal price, because it's part of the development cost. So a soundtrack is just nice because you don't have to extract the score from the folders. So all in all, 30 Euro more aren't justified because there isn't really more value.

I wish Paradox had made a physical Galaxy Edition for 60 Euro with the Stellaris Book, Artbook, Soundtrack, everything physical. Unfortunatly even the physical Stellaris version has just a digital soundtrack, so I stayed with the Nova Edition.

It's only a 20€ increase from the nova edition, not 30€.
I've seen Total War EBooks at 15€ at release. Lot's of other Ebooks are around that price too, just check it on amazon. Oh, and you might want to check the book in question on amazon too.
Artbooks include game art that you don't find in the game itself, so imo it is worth an additional charge.

If you don't think it's worth it, don't buy it. It may be overpriced? So be it, I don't mind that if it's paradox. I would have even payed a bit more just because it is paradox.

Yes it's a 20€ increase from the nova Edition but a 30€ increase from the standard edition. Of course there are ebook that cost more than 10 Euro but at the same time there are more than enough that don't. It's not very reliable to just take the highest prices, especially considering that the physical Stellaris book itself doesn't even cost 15€ at release. You are right that artbooks don't include game art that you don't find in the game but no it's not worth an additional charge, since the art is still made for the game, not for the book and even though I would agree that you can charge something for it (as long as it's not a slideshow but a designed book with text) there is no reason to charge that much.

If I don't think it's worth it, i won't buy it, you don't have to tell me that, like I wouldn't have any right to express my opinion, just because you don't care how much something costs. As said, I am more than willing to pay more but the value has to be higher and the value is higher with physical stuff because digital stuff is most often tremendously cheap or doesn't even cost anything (like music) to add.

So basically you don't want to pay more since you only want to pay more if there is more value and as such more production cost implying lower profit for pdx which is basically the same as not paying more at all and perhaps at the same having a bigger profit in the end with just a standard version?

It's paradoxical to say that someone doesn't want to pay more, even though this someone does, just because he or she demands something of value for the higher price.

Then you're looking at a $150 Galaxy Edition instead of a $70. Physical copies cost so much more because of printing and distribution.

There are many standard editions, pre-order standard editions and collectors editions all featuring artbooks and soundtracks and the price range was huge, from $40 to $80. For $150 it has to be a very special book with special circumstances regarding the printing, like the books from ballistic publishing but I doubt they were ever part of any kind of special edition.

I doubt pocket books are that expensive to print.

Would easily pay 80 - 100 € for a physical Galaxy "collector" edition though.

I might even have considered it for the digital one. Lots of game are 50€ standard, some even 60... So I'm pretty pleasant surprised by pdx' prices. I thought my ck2, hoi3 and eu4 were a bit cheaper because they were out a while already, but it sames pdx is more than reasonable with its prices :)

Ah, very clever on that.

As for the versions, why do people raise such a ruckus over what is - or isn't - in any version? People are free to do with their wealth as they please.

REALLY?!?!
How expensive is McDonalds in Canada?! jesus roosevelt christ on stick!

I was surprised at that as well, but when I looked at currency rates, it makes some sense...

$22 Canadian Fun Bucks = £12 in real money. For £12 you can go to a McDonalds and get 2 large meals, with a couple of quid change for a McFlurry or something.

$22 Canadian = 120 Danish Crowns. That's like... 5 cheeseburgers, 2 large fries, 5 packets of ketchup, and some nuggets, over here in Scandinavia (the land of social policies, that american politicians swear on their mother's grave don't work, even tho they do)
What happened to the canadian economy? o_O

The burgers by themselves are typically $6-8, while combos are $8-10 ish, add that with a 13% sales tax and you'd be paying generally $12-13 :D . I never really get Mcdonalds as Tim Hortons is a lot better, but I think that analogy is probably too "Canadian" :p

Since I like the idea to support an author this way and like a good piece of art, I pre-ordered the galaxy edition. Gameplaywise it's certainly not necessary.
