I am Catholic and the tool tip lists 25 points of piety if you give a church to a Bishop.
I know it worked pre last patch as I remember granting a few to get enough piety to buy Templar Knights.

Now both in Catholic and Orthodox I do not get that 25 piety.
Anyone tell me what I am doing wrong before I put in a bug report and look silly?

Cheers.

I've noticed the exact same thing in my last game. No piety from church grants. Any help would be appreciated.

Why it is a bug? If you look you will see that bishop you created has traits church does not like. So, you are not getting piety for landing bishop who is hated by church.

if you try to land more sutable character, you will get your piety.

Why should I not get piety - as the tooltip states - granting him a temple?

That's not a bug. You're installing a catholic bishop to a province that's already catholic in that screenshot. If you captured lands that were held by any other religion then you would get the piety.

If you right click the holding and create vassal, you get a 25 piety bonus from granting it. It has nothing do with creating or capturing, but has to do with granting the title.

Basically what you are proposing to do could be done an unlimited number of times for 25 piety increases each time.

Yes if you invade/crusade/holy war for large areas, when you win you can get 25 piety per holding. This used to work in 1.06 with a few exceptions, but since 1.07 it has not.

No the holy war route can't be done ad infinitum, the reason the +25 piety doesn't apply to bishoprics you already own is because you could just grant/revoke it over and over for piety each time.

If I conquer a province with a temple holding, and grant that to someone I do not get piety. You only get piety when creating a new vassal through right clicking the holding and clicking create vassal.

You can revoke and grant if you wish to recieve the piety gained from doing this. The issue is that granting someone that same temple holding does not grant the 25 piety that it is supposed to.

If you holy war a duchy you get the piety for winning the war, and piety for creating a new vassal in the temple holdings.

+25 piety applies to all temple holdings - I suggest you do some testing of your own.
