Political Annexation

The manual and online help say that the only requirements for political annexation is that the target has been a vassal for at least 10 years and that you have a relationship of 190+. I'm finding that I also need to have an alliance with the target.

Is this correct? I had four vassals for about 20 years and couldn't get the annex option. After my current alliance expired (I wasn't the leader, so I couldn't invite them in to it), I created a new alliance with my vassals and was able to annex them.

Religion

And you cannot diploannex a vassal, notwithstanding +190 relationship and same alliance, if you have different religions (since the start of Reform till Tolerance Edict of circa 1650).
