I've mentioned this before

That there seemed to be a curiosity with factories disappering when you had conquered a province and it had a rebellion,The one I mentioned was playing France and had taken Galicia from Castille.ow I've experienced the same again.Playing Castille and conquering Fez,annexed it,it rebelled and oooppps no facory(Fine Arts anymore)This led me to believe that it has something to do with Castille so I started a new game as Portugal and took Galicia from Spain when Galicia had gotten a facory.Same thing happened. The Factory disappeared. So a new game this time ad Austria to see if I might be right that the whole thing had something to do with Castille.Austria conquered and annexed Baden and Wurttemberg and the factories remained. So I'm led to believe that this mysterious disappareance of factories has something to do with Castille.

I don't think looting/pillaging hurt the manufactories, but battles taking place in the province definitely have a chance to destroy them.
