Increased revolt risk lasts longer than just the allotted 12 months.

I'm currently playing the 1419 - 1820 campaign as the English, and I got the increased revolt risk event twice in a row (with maybe 4 years or so seperating the first event from the second). Allegedly this increased risk was supposed to endure for a mere 12 months, but I must have been running all over my empire trying to quell dozens of revolts for about a decade now, and when looking at the province info it clearly states that the events are still active (events factor +7 in the revolt risk thingy). I'm using version GER 1.05, by the way.

in the rollover, is there any other revolt risk? Did you get any other events in between those 2?

Hi there, :)

Yup, there are other revolt risks as well (e.g. Chancellor +3, Nationalism +1), however my stability/religion/etc. bonus would negate those risks without the event factors.
And no, there were no other events between those two.

I'm afraid this is working as designed, due to a limitation in the game. If you get an extra revolt risk (say from a random event) while another extra revolt risk is current, you get both extra % added to each other for the duration of the longest-lasting one.

This is because there is only one field allocated to record the amount and duration of an extra risk for each nation. So the only choices are to record the shortest or the longest of all current revolt risks. Clearly the shortest would unbalance the game greatly, so the longest is the lesser of two evils.

To change this and create multiple fields per nation would mean a significant change to the game and to save files, and involve quite a bit of development and testing. Paradox have stated that not extra functionality will be added to Eu2 after 1.05, bug fixes only, so I'm afraid we are stuck with it.

If you are unhappy with the effects in your current game you are always free to edit the save file and change it as you wish.

Well Andrew, I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. I mean I got that first increased revolt risk event around 1511. It said it was going to last for 12 months, which means it should have been over and done with in 1512, but it was still there in 1515. In that year my friend the computer decided that despite all the crap it kept hauling at me I was doing too well and gave me the second increased revolt risk (which again was going to last for 12 months, or so it said). That event too was still active more than two years later along with the first that also refused to end. :(

Ok, let's try with your example. You get your initial increased risk of, say, 3% in 1511 for 1 year. Near the end of that year you get a random event for another 5% risk for 3 years; you now get 8% (3+5) increased risk until 1515. This is because the expiry date of your initial 3% risk is overwritten with the expiry date of the second 5% risk (as there is nowhere to write two separate expiry dates).

If you are saying your initial 3% lasted for longer than the advertised 12 months without any extending events, that is a new issue that no-one else has reported. If so I'd like to see the history file of that portion of the game to confirm that, pls.

Hi Andrew,

Yup, it did last far longer than that. I continued that game a few days after I made the post and then finally like almost one and a half decades later the additional revolt risk finally ceased to exist. Not sure but it felt more like 120 months rather than 12 months. :( Oh, and what do you mean by "history file"?

In each saved game is a history section that records the messages that show up in the rolling text screen in your game. If, as I suspect, you got a random event that extended your initial revolt risk it will show up in there, assuming you haven't set the messages to not be recored in the log.
