Treaty of Tordesillas?

I had saved a game as portugal in 1507, and had to reboot, thanx to windows inability to correctly use the system memory, and when i laoded the game back up, the treaty happened. But even a year later, Portugal didnt have CBs against the pagan countries in africa or indonesia. But i checked spains diplo window, and it had all its CBs. Has anyone else ran across this? I am wondering if it might be caused by the loading the game up, which always trips events that were waiting on the random activity built into most of them?

You misunderstand the event. ToT does not give SPA and POR CBs against pagan nations. It allows them to attack other European settlements in certain areas of the world without DoWs.

Or are you referring to the ToT shields as CB shields?

ok, i had part of that wrong then. i guess that spains CB against all pagans and muslims comes when they take the name Spain. The shields were their in the colo screen, but now that u mention it, it wouldnt let me march into Omanese trading posts, like it used too. I am not sure if spain was having this problem or not, but portugual couldnt take over colonies and trading posts in their regions assigned to them in the treaty like they used too. Also, i am getting hit for more than 5 BB points when i annex a pagan country. The # of provinces that belong to that pagan directly effects the # of BB points i get hit for. I only mention this, because from the docs on the patch, if im interpretting them right, i should only be getting 5 for an annexation right? I am not getting hit for any BB declaring war against them however, just a stab loss of 2 like normal against pagans.

Again, there is NO general CB for Spain against all pagans, moslems, or anyone else. Never has been, AFAIK. All there is after the ToT is that SPA can attack colonies and TPs of other Europeans if they are in SPA's ToT territory without a DoW.

>I am not sure if spain was having this problem or not, but portugual couldnt take over colonies and trading posts in their regions assigned to them in the treaty like they used to.

You mean POR could not attack a European TP or colony in, say, Brazil without a DoW? If not, please be specific about exactly what happened where.

1.05 says "There is no longer a badboy penalty for taking provinces from a pagan nation if you are european.". 1.04 says "There is no badboy for europeans declaring war on pagans". However I can't see anything saying what theBB penalty for annexing whole pagan nations is.

Anyone know what it is supposed to be?

Ok, but if u look at spains Diplo screen, at least following the changing to spain (not sure if it happens in later scenarios), spain get a HUGE list of permanent CBs against either all, or most pagan nations (aztecs, hurons, benin, etc etc) and also looks like most, if not all the muslims as well. I see it every time i look at their diplo screen, wether im them, or someone else. I never paid attention to WHEN they get this CBs (ie: do they get them when castille becomes spain, or when the treaty happens), i just figured it was connected to the treaty, my bad.

correct. After the treaty happened, i tried to sieze the Oman TPs in the horn of africa, and the island Socotra, and it would not let me enter the provinces, by land or from ship.

Spain had a permanent CB against all non-christians in EU I
And I think that it gets those in EU II as well, I haven't counted them but they start with an enormous amount of CB's against pagans and moslem countries

That's still correct.

ToT isn't a CB. So think of it as something completely different.

ToT allows Spain and Portugal to attack the respective provinces shown on the colonization map without declaring war *if they are owned by Catholics.* The ToT is a decree supported by the Pope, so a catholic France will abide by it.

However, muslim Oman couldn't care less. If you want to invade Scotra and other countries, you have to declare war on them.
